Kinja'd!!!

A dealership in Colorado Springs is asking ZL1 1LE money for this SS 1LE with a blower and Lingenfelter badges. 76k bones. They doubled the price of the car because of a 7k dollar supercharger. Reminds me of the “new” 2014 Hennessey Camaro a dealer had when I purchased my 2016.

Wait - how is this better than a ZL1 again?

Hope they at least clean the cobwebs off once in a while.

Until they get that one guy that wants something “more” than a ZL1 and doesn’t care what number he writes in his checkbook because he’ll be thinking it’ll be sending him massive dividend checks all the way from Scottsdale Barrett Jackson in like 20 years right next to the Callaway Vettes and Shelby American Mustangs.

tl;dr I give it 4 months, plus an additional 21 years.

50 HP for ~$8-10k over a ZL1.

Note to Lingenfelter: If you’re going to tune a pony car, maybe start with the one that has the most performance to begin with, k?

Looking at their website they do sell kits for the zl1. And their most expensive LT1 kit is 11k. A 2ss w/ 1LE is 47K so the dealers just being greedy.

~17%... not too bad. Generally speaking, you allow for 15% on manuals--and iirc high hp manuals eat a little more.

Yeah, I think the math in the dealer’s head is 700 HP / 650 HP x ZL1 price=$76k. Nope.

It’s the Springs. Some lower enlisted will buy it just as soon as they get the paperwork done on their contract marriage.

I thought the same. It’s a 6-speed, so it’s really not that bad. They just wanted to throw out a bullshit number. Chances are it never even went on a dyno.

I saw a “not a Raptor” at a local show, with a $78k price tag. Guy who brought it is telling me all about it (not by my choice). “32 valve highly expiremental V8"

“Makes 550hp”

Yeah, he opened the hood, it was a bone stock coyote. I had to restrain myself from laughing because I think he had just bought it.

Ridiculous. There’s a shop selling their “R&D” 6th gen SS that is supercharged. Has some BMR bits on the suspension and a tacky aero kit and they’re asking 64k for it. They claim 50k in parts alone. They claim it’s faster around the track than a ZL1 because they went to a track day and wound up with a faster time than some random dude in a ZL1. Shit, I was 9 seconds faster than a guy in his new ZL1 my last time out, doesn’t mean my car is that much better.

This reminds me of something vaguely related: On another forum, they were discussing a fox body Saleen Mustang with ultra low miles (triple digits) which the dealer (also a forum member) wanted to hold on to because “it will only appreciate in value”. Most commenters were praising his wisdom, while one of them pointed out, that at the end of the day it’s just a fox body. There are so many “rare” edition muscle cars with some sort of pedigree (Saleen, Roush, Lingenfelter, Shelby, you name it) that they aren’t exactly a rare breed. They will never fetch one of 15 Ferrari money. In fact they might even be more like those 90s pace cars.

Too many people think anything will be a collector car. I have a cousin that got one of those Dodge Magnum wagons, nothing crazy, fairly standard model. But he said he planned on parking it because it was going to be valuable one day. Pretty sure he sold it like a year later.

And then you got companies like Yenko still throwing their badge on stuff. I feel like I’m the only guy in the Camaro groups who doesn’t get why someone would spend 90-110k for a Camaro with a built motor, ugly wheels and a badge. There’s nothing on there that is “Yenko”, it all comes from other companies. Same with the Fireball. I know someone who paid 60k for one of those and blew the motor right away.

Based on my AutoX results from Sunday, the TA is way faster than a 2017 CTS-V.

Shit, forgot, this R&D Camaro is rolling on Chinese wheels. The mod list is just a bunch of stuff that isn’t the best in its category. Even the BMR stuff was the non-adjustable products they offer.

Haha, I had never heard of the company that did the widebody conversion and suspension on this truck. It started life as a $51k XLT... which is as much as a Raptor, and that was before “$27k in mods”.
