What if I’m a fast walker? Does it apply to pedestrians, too?

I have yet to see a speedometer that actually registers anything below 10mph (that isn’t digital)

Our next stop was to Ft. Myers, Florida and Sanibel Island, which was where Jimmy Buffett lived when he wrote “Margaritaville”. The only way to get to Sanibel Island is to cross a little rickety bridge. A little rickety freakin’ bridge! I expected to see a troll and some billy goats! This bridge is so rickety, the speed limit is 5 mph, and I got a ticket! The officer asks, “Do you have any idea how fast you were going?” “I don’t know, 8, 9? My foot slipped off the brake!” “I clocked you at 11 mph. More than twice the legal speed limit!” [Ron puts his wrists together as if he is asking to be handcuffed] “Take me to jail. I’ll make a million dollars telling this story if you take me to jail for going 11 mph.”

Old pic, but this sign was at the Zion Nuclear Generating Station until late 2016 when someone stole it.

That was my thought, but I guess mayb front-loaders might show slower speeds.

I’m going to assume that’s the maximum warp factor that part of sub space can handle.

What do i do if my speedometer doesn’t star to register until 10mph? just widely guess? or just do what i always do and ignore the sign and drive a speed i feel safe.

There’s a 45mph speed limit sign on one of the main roads here, but there’s a rusted brown rivet between the 4 and the 5 so it looks like it says 4.5. I once was (briefly!) stuck behind some jamoke who thought that was what it really said.

I just drove through a private community with signs showing 23 miles per hour.

I love how specific it is. Like an old parking garage I used to park in with a “7 1/5 mph limit”

That’s oddly specific

I’ll have you know that statistics show that pedestrians are 765 times more likely to survive an impact at 4 MPH than 5 MPH.

The theory behind that, is that drivers are more likely to notice the sign and remember it than a normal number.
