My wife was kind enough to surprise me on my birthday with tickets to the IndyCar Kohler GP at Road America, so we went! The tickets were part of a raffle held by our school district and Belardi Racing, whom unfortunately run Indy Lights and I only wanted to go to the big boy race. That, and it worked better with our schedule that weekend... plus I’d be remiss if we had gone Saturday, found out the kids hated it, and we would not be returning Sunday for the Big Race.
Turns out they loved it, but I digress. Usually my Dad Sense is pretty spot on.
We arrived at the track shortly before the IndyCar race because, again, scheduling, and right away it was apparent how much BIGGER this was than any other race I had been to. I’ve been to a few SCCA events, local short tracks, but NEVER anything as big as this. The infield areas were PACKED with cars. Nice cars. But none as nice as this Comanche
And this other Jeep, a Commander. I mean, you just don’t SEE these anymore!
Speaking of Chryslers, I tried to get a pic of this sweet PT Cruiser as I walked by it, but the shutter on my phone must have been a little slow.
And then I was #BLESSED to find we parked next to not one, but TWO Dodge Darts! Those old guys must have been jelly.
And there was also some other DaimlerChrysler thing off in the distance
But of course there was no shortage of SUVs in the lot. We took the Durango. These people took the Lexus.

Post-race we walked the paddock and pits, these were tearing around the track earlier, and sounded glorious
And I nearly missed this little guy as he passed
Thankfully most of the Things I took pictures of were standing still
Cadillac Racing had a nice display with a few V’s, and this people could play around in

You get a star for the puns. That &a I love RoadAmerica. Beautiful setting in the Rolling hills & woods of Wisconsin.
Plus get a pit pass and walk anywhere you want around the track & in the pits (including a chance to talk to people racingO. And Great food (brats & grilled corn on the cob)!
