It’s a big, heavy, 4 door sedan made by Mercedes Benz in Germany. That’s all I got.

If it’s a V8, either make sure the timing chains have been done at some point, or possibly be ready to do them. They aren’t as bad as older BMW V8s when it comes to eating chain guides, but it’s still a concern if I remember correctly. The turbo diesel is probably the one to have. A friend had a 300SD, it was pretty slow, but comfy, and got amazing fuel economy for a car that big. Also the steering boxes are usually worn out by now. The transmissions are weird to me, the couple I’ve driven shifted fairly hard, but never got worse while they had them. I think they’re quite hard to kill, but I’ve seen ones for sale that have lost reverse.

Depends on the exact car. These were sold in NA for 11 model years, with a wide range of engine options from 5 cyl diesel to big V8. All will have immense build and material quality, and can cost an equally immense amount to get right if they have been messed with. A cruiser/bruiser, no sporty pretenses. A nice one will show why the model run was so long - they were easily and by far the most advanced production sedan in the world at introduction.

Supposedly indestructible if maintained properly. They’re still used as taxis in some 3rd world countries. The diesels are especially cheap and a jalop thing to suggest... but abominably slow, to the point of being dangerous in merging situations. I’d go for a 560 with less than 200k on the clock in the coolest color combo you can find.
