An IS Sportcross has less rear legroom and less cargo capacity than a Tercel wagon.
Internal counterpoint is as follows:

Motnreally shocking, one car was designed to maximize interior volume, the other was designed to look good.

Hmm, looking even further, the Tercel is listed at only 8" shorter, but remember that 59% of the Tercel’s length are those terrible 80's bumpers

Well, you can actually survive a crash in one of them. Maybe even go highway speeds comfortably?

Have been in the 1st and 2nd gen Lexus IS back seat, can confirm that they are pretty brutal for any humanoid with legs.
Also have not been in a current gen Lexus IS, at all. *Psst* ... Lexus ... pseudo-millenial with somewhat disposable income over here! Come get me!

Yeah, it’s more like a BMW rival than a mini-Volvo after all.
On the bright side, the Sportcross is much newer, so it’s going to have less internal wear and better safety gear to boot.

When I had my Yellow IS300 I treated it like a van/wagon. I hauled all sorts of things in the trunk and back seat, double wall cardboard basically lived back there all the time for protection.
