It’s a pre-LCI, but still.

The later ones look a little nicer, but that just makes this one fewer monies.

I’m ok with that.

That is true. Personally I think it’s worth it to get an LCI, especially one built after late 2010. I mean I’d still rock a pre-LCI.

For relatively small premium, yeah.

But this seems like a decent price - and it’s been driven the last 3 years, which is a decent sign, I think.

It seems like a high mileage one would be the way to go, make sure there isn’t a rod bearing issue or anything. I’ve got a late 2010; apparently that’s after they changed the rod bearing design. If you get a good one, they’re pretty reliable, apart from throttle position actuators.

Yeah, I’ve heard that about the TPAs, but that they’re otherwise solid.

Wasn’t aware of the rod bearing change though, good to know.

This one had 34k in 2014, now at 73k. Seems like it’s been dailied recently, which is good —

I had the first TPA go out at 24k, then the second one at 36k. The second one stung more because I was unemployed at the time.

The rod bearings seem to be a random occurrence. I had an oil analysis done and it came back squeaky clean.

A daily driven car is a good sign. I’d almost prefer that, says the man who bought a 2009 that had done 40k.

I can’t remember, do you have an E9X M3?

Nope, an old E46 with an M52B25. Considering upgrading it to an E46 or E9X M3 next spring, so I’m keeping an eye on them, through BaT, CarMax, etc., but not doing serious research on them (yet).

They’re not prefect, but I do love mine.

I love mine, too - it’s a pleasure to drive, but I can’t help but think about what more HP would be like. With 168, mine is anything but quick - but still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

I won’t need perfect - it won’t be a DD anyways, just a weekend car.

I will say, it’s pretty great as a weekend car. Having two BMWs really makes me appreciate how good the M3 actually is. My 3 is not fast at all, but putting it through some corners still puts a smile on my face.
