I am kind of a weak wrench. I spent about 7 hours yesterday on the front suspension and my hands feel like sore clubs today.

I guess the best news is that I only had to go back redo things once (as you can see below, I forgot the boot on the tie rod. Try not to mind the mess underneath - doing all this in a one-car garage.

If you don’t do a lot of wrenching, you can expect to be sore. The worst for me is doing a lot of engine work. My back isn’t used to leaning forward like that, so engine days always lead to a sore lower back. Not bulging disc kind of sore, achy muscles kind of sore.

As the good witch doctor says, “put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up.” I hear it will make you all better, but he also says to call him in the morning, so try it and see how it goes.

When I get to work on Mondays I often feel like an old arthritic man from having spent a majority of the prior 48 hours bending over a car and/or rolling around on concrete - though my hands aren’t usually too bad, my knees, shoulders, and back just about do me in.

Also, that suspension looks very good!

Did my trasmission fluid a couple of days ago. The drain plug was so over-torqued that I had to use both arms and all of my weight to loosen it. The next day my arms were dead.

Haha thanks. Not bad looking for a 26 year old miata.

Looks good— I probably had to spend 40+ hrs on my suspension rebuild so 7 hours ain’t too bad! I’m regularly sore from automotive work— it’s about the only thing slowing me down on sanding down my paint job for another attempt at a respray.

Can confirm, I installed springs on my car this Friday. I’m still sore. It’s mostly my lower body though. Luckily I picked up an electric impact from Harbor freight just for the install. I can’t imagine how bad it would’ve been without that. Took 3 hours for that but I had a friend help me in addition to the impact.

This gives me hope for the coilovers, sway bar and end links that have been sitting in my dining room for six months...

I’m up over 40 already on the whole project. 47 as of today - just torqued everything down. I did sway bars, coilovers, front control arms, refurbished rear control arms and added new bushings. Brakes are up next today.

Budget ~40 hrs depending on how good you area. I’m in no particular rush but I am keeping track of the time spent.

Yeh, fortunately only took 20 minutes to remedy.

Bout par for the course then, I did upper/lower A- arms, springs, shocks, bushings for sway bar, panhard rod, trailing arms and tie rods. Could prob do it again in <20 hrs now that I know what I’m doing

Funny how that is - you half the amount of time something takes every time you do it. Diminishing returns but yeah - much easier the second time.
