How would one...*glances behind him* “street” a Jeep Wrangler?

How would I take a two door JK and make it handle corners and drive like a street smart 330i, Subi, M-Car, Focus RS.

How would I create a Wrangler SRT? Without throwing a V8 in? How would I make my Jeep Wrangler out handle an X5?

Thoughts?

You might want to google the XJ-R. Grassroots racing build of a very capable XJ Cherokee. It took influence in some regards, front suspension in particular, from the Archer Bros SCCA Comanches. Those two examples are 2wd SFA Jeeps, but similar principles (aside from the axle bending for camber, you might look at hub shim for camber adjustment) will apply as the 2wd’s are still a solid beam axle. Given the JK rear is coils, not leaves, you would just do the same things all the linked-rear-axle muscle car guys do for handling.

Actually you’d end up using similar techniques front and rear. And also pretty well the opposite of what most 4x4 guys would do. Beefy anti-roll bars, shorter springs, probably end up shortening control arm lengths or else repositioning the pickup points, sticky tires. Thinking about it some, the WK SRT still uses a solid rear axle, yes? That’s likely going to be fairly similar with decent geometry.

If you really need to ask this, you have the wrong vehicle. Take that Rubi on the trails, where it was meant to be.

Bring it to me, swap titles, drive away in a nice clean 2007 miata PRHT touring with 50k miles. Problem solved.

Sell the Wrangler, buy a 330i, Subi, M-Car, or Focus RS.

But why? The moral of the story is that the amount of work/money it would take to make it handle decent would be significant, let alone handle well. There is a lot going against it from the start:

Recirculating ball steering

A frame meant to twist

Axles without adjustability and no ability to maintain camber through single wheel travel events.

Lateral links designed to allow for maximum rotation and swing.

High cg

Etc, etc.

If you like the idea of a sports car suv sell your Wrangler and buy one.

If you like the idea of a Wrangler but don’t want to take it off road sell your Wrangler and buy a used tj and a BMW.

Sure you can ...Probably easier than making a Wrangler handle
