Kinja'd!!!

My older son (age 16) was at the senior session of the music camp (Cal State Stanislaus) where is brother (age 13) did the junior camp the previous week.

Mine is the longhair redhead on the right.

He played guitar in the jazz band, and sax in the concert band. He was great, for a goofball.

That is the leather jacket I wore for the entire 90s that he claimed from me. To Sonic, I lay no claim. That is all him.

I just picked up his brother from the airport after a DC/Philly/NY school trip for the past week. My mother went with me and squirmed and screamed like it was a roller coaster with her back seat driving. I got home, and went around the corner for a drink.

The older one is getting on a plane to Boston in the AM to Berklee College of Music songwriting camp for a week.

I will not hesitate to spend money to support their passions. I hope you all had a good day.

I will do the same, once they figure out what their passions are. Beyond video games and lying in bed and watching YouTube.

Passions. Sometimes those are hard to find. Both of my kids have shown interest in programming and robotics, but I’m not sure these are passions for either of them. My son is more interested in nature and wildlife. We went to a country wedding last night and his favorite part was chasing the tree frogs that appeared around the “barn” where they held the reception.

My daughter has talent for so many different things. She went to “cyber” camp a few weeks ago and the councilor was gushing about how she was central to every project, whether writing, programming, art, or design. The flip side is her discomfort in social situations. She was completely miserable at the reception.

Kids. We do what we can.

It makes me glad to see people who are willing to go the extra mile for their kids. So many kids have parents that won’t.

I also claimed my Dad’s leather jacket. He threatens to take it back when he gets skinny again. I laugh and tell him you may get skinny, but you are buying a new jacket for yourself.

As a concert and Jazz band member throughout Jr. High and High School, I would just like to state that PERCUSSION IZ THA BEST, DURMS RULE LOSAHS!

:P

In seriousness, good on him....I loved being a part of the band and played percussion throughout...still have a set here at home, but haven’t played it in over a year since we got our poor feral kitten. It would scare the crap out of her and she is a scared little sweetheart to begin with, so I would feel guilty! To a greater extent, I sadly just haven’t had the time to play even if I could :(
