The 911SC Targa pictured is the one I grew up with and the 1st car I ever drove a manual in. I’ll never understand the Targa hate and believe they look better than Cabs by a factor of 10.
But I digress.
I will be moving to Massachusetts in the very near future. My pistol will be handed off to my father as it is not legal in MA but I intend on keeping my 12 gauge shotgun because it is legal to possess after licensing. I’ve read on and on about policy and procedure online but it all just has a gross vagueness to it all. Has anyone here moved to MA with a MA legal shotgun or rifle?

I don’t like cabs, I would agree the targa is better. I like a targa if the metal band compliments the color of the car.

Initially I wasn’t a fan of the silver targa bar but it grew on me big time. Ours had a lobster red interior too.

Pistols are outlawed and shotguns need to be licensed? MA sounds like an awful place. I think I’ll stay far away.

As you can tell from my post, I hate guns and that is why I am moving to MA. Thank you for your much needed insight.
Aside from being sarcastic, handguns are legal but from the factory need to accept magazines no more than 10 rounds. My particular pistol has a 12 round cap. so I cannot register it in MA.

You can’t block the mag to 10 rounds? I live in Jersey and the mag capacity limit for semi automatic rifles is 15 rounds. My 308 only comes with 20 and 5 round mags from the factory so I bought modified mags that only take 15 rounds.

Apologies... I have nothing constructive to add to this post. I’d like to research more about MA gun laws though. From the sound of things, it doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. Though even as a gun owner I can agree that stricter gun control isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I think you just have to take the day course to get the lisence. My co-worker did it in 2015, he said it wasn’ t that big of a deal*.
* pending you don’t have a criminal record.
best description he got was going to the local police station to make sure everything was organized.

MA Resident here. I’ll cut to the chase, where are you moving? First thing I would do is call the town’s police station and request to speak to the firearms officer, they’ll break it down so it’s a lot easier to understand in reference to pistols, shotguns, and rifles. Also bear in mind that a lot of it is up to said officer’s interpretation of the law, which may work in your favor, as it did mine.

Call the local government and get it straight from them. Document what was said, who you spoke to, and when.
Overkill? Maybe. But in the off chance there’s an issue you will have some record.
