The Colt cc does remind me of the Nissan Micra cc though, that was available around that time too.

Nothing to do with Peugeot. It’s a legitimate Mitsubishi Colt. I do believe it shared a platform with the first Smart Forfour (the four door).
Peugeot did offer a direct competitor with the 206 CC. As far as I know the Peugeot was better in every way. It certainly looks better than the dorky Mitsubishi. Unlike the Mitsubishi it sold quite well too.

The Nissan Micra cc is ugly though.

It is. There is a baby pink Micra cc near where I live and I’ve found the actual car while looking through the internet.
(shockingly, there are several of them. I believe Nissan made them an optional colour for a short time).
Ford did a nice one with the Ford Ka.
Vauxhall Tigra was quite good looking.
