Assholes in the right lane that see traffic merging ahead so they cut into your lane as you’re about to pass them so they don’t have to apply their brakes and thus forcing you to stomp on yours. Fuck these people.

That is all.

True. Even worse is when they do exactly that for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I had a trucker pull that crap on me earlier this week, so I hit him with the brights. He flashed all the lights on the whole truck and gave me the finger as I passed. I guess I can’t feel too bad considering his job will be taken by robots soon.

This is going to be an unpopular reply, but these types of rants always sound a little selfish to me.

Sure, no one likes to be inconvenienced, but “My pace is more important than your pace” is what I hear.

I can see your point, but this is more about proper lane discipline and a problem with the “me me me” attitude so pervasive these days (although you may be tempted to throw that last one back at me).

Just because you may want to change lanes doesn’t mean you can do it at any time, the rest of traffic be damned. I’m already in this lane (and have chosen this lane specifically to avoid what you’re now experiencing...) and going faster than you, properly passing you on the left. Why is it OK to inconvenience me so that you’re not inconvenienced? We just need to think beyond just our immediate needs and think about systems and societies as a whole and not just how our actions affect ourselves.

If someone is approaching in an adjacent lane at a speed faster than yours, either exceed the speed of the car in the adjacent lane before changing lanes, or don’t change lanes. Sadly “share the road” in practice just means slow down for the timid/inept/stubborn.

Cutting people off is bad. If you pull out or swerve in front of a moving vehicle, whose driver must immediately brake to keep from hitting you, then you’ve just cut him off.

so they don’t have to apply their brakes

If the merging traffic had a clue how to merge, this part wouldn’t even be an issue.
