Ive mentioned that my dream is to own a seven car garage where every vehicle is planned for years in advance. Note that Im not counting household, purely personal. I am 100% serious by the way. Here are 4 out of 7:

Though I love all the upmarket Korean sedans, the Stinger is probably the right compromise between the softer G80 Sport and the more aggressive upcoming G70 3.3T. I have followed the car for like five years now and it’s dead on what I want in a daily down to running 87 octane (like all US Hyundai-Kia products).

The SRT fixed the interior materials and gear selector. I like the third row, towing, and the new styling. Also, I love my WK2 except the “truckish” traits engineered into it and expect this to answer my final wants.

(Replaces 2012 Jaguar XF 5.0 Base)

I fell in love with the XJ upon launch. Oddly enough it’s the only current Jaguar I’ve never driven. I think the Riva line and interior design will age just fine and I don’t touch the infotainment anyways. I do think I want the standard wheelbase now since that seemed the right size for me.

Ive always wanted a “night car.” Something you drive downtown or around town after the sun goes down. The sound, the style, the non-existence in my area, and the ability to have three adult passengers inside a convertible are simply unbeatable. Plus, I don’t like the rear light housings since they are too big but I do like the rear running lights. I need to have a Maserati. They’re my on-and-off favorite brand and I have been fantasizing about owning a Maser nonstop.

The plan is to hold on to cars until I obtain their goal replacements. The other three cars arent definites yet though I just need to check out a square-light C4 Corvette and see how prices move as this decade ends for the rest.

*These are plans out to 2040 and I dont expect to start this until 2019/2020.

Blue is a good color for a night car, as along as it has some good metal flake in it.

As long as the XJ has the purple glovebox I’m okay with this.

Definitely, that won me over when I saw Steve Hammes review the XJSS.

Here is mine. I’ve been planning on a three-car stable where I have all my bases covered.

2006-2007 Ram 2500 CC LB 4x4 5.9 Cummins (replaces 1999 F250 7.3).

I’m slowly working on updating my truck and taking care of a LOT of deferred maintenance (just replaced most of the air conditioning system this weekend.) it was a really cheap purchase which is why I could justify buying one for its occasional use (DIY house projects, future poor-man’s earthroamer with a pop-up truck camper). But I would love to replace it with a low mileage 5.9 Cummins. The ‘06-’07 are the nicest and most powerful versions before DPF’s became required diesel hardware, requiring Dodge to bump displacement to 6.7 liters just to make up the loss of power.

Panamera 4S/Turbo Sport Turismo (replaces whatever I get as a DD).

I love taking advantage of the depreciation curve on Porsches. I did it with my 997, and in 5-6 years I’m going to take advantage of it again and add a beautiful Porsche wagon to my collection. I’m looking for a daily driver as I’ve learned the 997 is more enjoyable soley as the fun car, and the Panamera would replace whatever that DD turns out to be. It’ll also be used for road trips where the truck camper isn’t required.

Flat-6 Innovations 4 liter R51 (replaces 3.8 liter M97 in my 997 C4S X51).

I love my 997 dearly, and the only way I’ll sell it is if I have the fuck-you money to buy a 991.2 GT3 with a 6MT. The sports car slot is for pure driving enjoyment; other cars in my fleet can have autos, but this slot will always have a manual gearbox. I take great car of the car and I’m very gentle on it when it warms up, but I’m also preparing for the chance that it will either develop bore scoring, d-chunk, or the intermediate shaft bearing will fail and tear apart the motor.

If this happens I will call Jake Raby of Flat-6 Innovations, and get on the waitlist for one of his 4 liter ‘Street Performance’ motors. When I get it back it will have a bulletproofed engine with all the factory design issues addressed, and with the factory X51 goodies that my car already came with could potentially make 440hp at the crank.
