At least there is space to crawl under and refill unlike the zf auto transmission in bmws. Germans think dipsticks are so barbaric and uncivilized like a leaf spring suspension. I have worse memories when doing the transmission fluid on my e38.

Eh, I kinda like the ATF smell. Until it ends up near you exhaust. Burning ATF is horrible. Partly because of the smell and partly because the smell is instantly recognizable and either means or calls to memory mechanical death.
AddictedToM3s was right about getting rid of the smell though. Ugh. Not happening. And once it touches the exhaust or heat shields it’s that much worse. It stays with you for ages before it burns off completely. A year later I can still get a whiff once in a while.

ATF isn’t too awful until it gets burnt, then it’s gag worthy.
The scent of gear oil could be used as a form of government torture though. My summer class is over diffs and transmissions so for about 4 weeks straight I’d come home reeking of gear oil.
