And outside of the Quadrifoglio performance model, they aren’t as pricey as I thought they would be, but it still gets up there. I built the base model and top model to see how high I could get them, as I usually do. Between the top and bottom models, there are 2 other trims, a Sport AWD that starts at $43,795 and a Ti AWD that starts at $43,995.

Kinja'd!!!

The Base Stelvio starts at pretty much $43 grand. One of the things I found weird about all the trims is that, outside of the typical Alfa Red, every single exterior color is a $600 option, even white. On the top trim there are 2 special colors that are $2000 dollar options. All in all, with most options including every single safety system such as lane departure, cruise controls etc, there was $8400 in options bringing in the total to a surprising $51,390.

Kinja'd!!!

The top of the Stelvio Ti Sport starts at $46,495, like I mentioned before. For it to be the top trim, it doesn’t have many options like the other models do. With $5950 in options it rang in just $2050 more than the base model with almost all of the available options. That’s pretty close. There are no engine options other than the standard 2.0 280 horse 4 that comes on all models.

For what it is (pretty much a raised Giulia with a hatch), it enters a crowded field of car based crossovers. It competes with the Porsche Macan, Mercedes GLC, and Jaguar F-Pace. Do you guys think its competitive performance and price wise with these vehicles? I think so, but I don’t necessarily think I would spend my money on one either.

I’d buy the Macan for sure , over any of those.

Everytime I see this name I think it is a sugar substitute Stevia.

I would too, but the price difference is just crazy. Just changing the damn color on the Macan will push the price over 50 grand. And thats just on the base model.

The configurator is about as far as these things are gonna go. The Alfa dealership two blocks from my work doesn’t seem to move ANY inventory.

If the only engine option is the 2.0L 280hp four-cylinder, it doesn’t compete with anything more than the base models of what you mentioned as competition. I’d much rather a Macan S or F-Pace with its supercharged V6.

I really don’t understand why there’s no engine options on the Giulia and Stelvio between the turbo 4 and the QF. Sure the turbo 4 is more powerful than the likes of the 330i or C300, but imagine if BMW and Mercedes had nothing between those and the M3 & C63.

You cant even search local inventory for one through Alfa’s site. I had to look on Autotrader and Cargurus. And even then, Cargurus doesn’t even have the Stelvio as an option under Alfa’s models. But according to Autotrader, there are zero near me, and Im in Southern California. Nationwide there are a grand total of 16 all pushing 50 grand. With 8 of the 16 at the same dealer.

Exactly. Its midpack, if that. To compete, you have to get the Quadrifoglio, which they havent released pricing on yet. But if the Giulia Quadrifoglio is any indication, its going to be over 80 grand, leapfrogging everything else just to compete. They did a disservice not offering a second engine option I think. A bigger 4 or at least a small V6.

Yesterday I used the Alfa configurator and found it glitchy and crappy. Another thing FCA needs to work on is their configurators.

That’s what I was just saying to someone else. They are doing themselves a disservice. Its either base 2.0 4, or (I’m assuming) a 30 grand price jump to the Quadrifoglio for its 2.9 turbo V6. It doesnt make sense.

Yea it took awhile to load and it is kinda of confusing. For instance, when choosing a model to build, it will show you the model you choose bigger than all the other model choices, but the way it looks make it seem like there are more models than there really are. Chrysler,Dodge,Jeep, Ram and Fiat all have the same configurators. Only Alfa and Maserati get different ones.

They are supposed to be working on a 4 Cylinder 350 HP Giulia ‘Veloce’ model, not sure when they’ll actually release it.

They’re supposedly working on a Giulia ‘Veloce’ model that has 350 HP to spot in between.

That would make sense. They could use a detuned version of the QF’s 2.9 V6. Its probably going to be in the upper 50's though.

The Dodge/Chrysler etc configurators are basic and unappealing.

Also, I haven’t found the difference of a Ti to a non-Ti.

From what I could see, it pretty much comes down to just different trim pieces and options. For instance, you can only get aluminium paddle shifters on the Sport and Ti models, not the base. Its nothing drastic.

I bet you can retrofit them. Either way, I love Alfa way too much to hate on the cars.

Yeah, a Tiguan/Toureg or the upcoming XC60 would be much more practical but they weren’t mentioned haha.

A Touraeg would cost way more loaded. And surprising a loaded XC60 is damn near 70 grand .

most likely since it would compete with the C43 and 340i which starts around $50k before options

The xc60 is the one to have. Expensive but way better.

Maybe. But by the time you build it out in top like R line trim, its Porsche Macan money.
