My vote goes to the 24 Hour Britcar race. It wasn’t 20 minutes of the guys mucking around like many segments were. It was emotional, triumphant, and edge-of-your-seat epic. It wasn’t just good Top Gear, it was good television.
My runner up choices are the Collection of Lancias piece and the bobsled race.

Britcar was amazing but I have to give it to the Searching for the Beginning of the Nike.

Jezza’s review of the Bentley Conti GT Speed.
The boxing metaphor they used is perfectly apt and their cinematography for that segment is simply stunning.

That was both a cheap car & a road trip challenge.

I would say that one is actually pretty hard to top. I got teary-eyed too the moment the repmobile crossed the line.

It has to be when they tried to make the Avantime quicker than an Evo.
I adore the theme of the film, even if the results weren’t what I was expecting. Either way, they could remake it and I would totally watch it.
I miss GOOD Top Gear.

Loved the Britcar race. That’s my favorite followed by the first US road trip in the deep south, The Alfa challenge, and the Reliant Robin segment.

I loved how they lightened the body, did brakes and suspension and it still was a couple ticks SLOWER than stock.

It’s good seeing them trying not to fail. I feel People who bag out new new new TG or GT forget that the last 4 seasons were mostly the same shit.
I have a love-hate thing with the cheap RWD episode. I love the 300ZX and it was great to see the car on film, but I feel they gave it a raw deal because it was so obviously so much better than the other 2 cars . It didn’t finish its lap (implying that 300hp is too much for Hammond to handle), it lost a t-top panel over a cliff...
:(
I don’t know which one I prefer.

Yeah although the cheap car challenges are my favourite bit, they have done a lot of seriously quality stuff.
The Britcar one is brilliant, as is the Lancia tribute. As a Brit, I had to love the ‘We still make stuff’ segment. Every now and again we need reminding of that.
I also really like the first of the bonkers reviews when it was still fresh. I think it was the Renault Twingo or something? The one with Ross Kemp doing a cameo in the boot. They tried to recreate it a couple of times which wasn’t so good, but the first time I saw it it was brilliant :)
The review where they go to Algeria or something in a Roller, a Merc and a ‘Bentley’ is great TV as well :) it’s a road trip, but not a special.
I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting, but that’s what I can think of off the top of my head :)

I’m not even British and I felt tears of national pride swelling when they started sweeping the camera down all those British-made things on the Mall.

Glad I wasn’t the only one. Same with the E-Type tribute, but that may have been more due to the sound of the Spitfires flying over.
