Kinja'd!!!

Not off to a good start, currently stuck on this funny looking car in the very un Alps like Birmingham. Mostly beacause of this:

Kinja'd!!!

Hour and a half so far- and to think I was worried about arriving late to the airport.

Update- hopefully pushing back in 10 minutes.

It’d be great to get some of the US/Canuck oppos over

It would! If I wasn’t inbetween jobs I’d be up for it. Renting something interesting and driving around western europe is one of my bucket list items.

I spent a week doing that a couple of years ago in Sweden. A diesel KIA, but it’s something i’d recommend. Once you van get over it’s a daily cheap thing to do if you’re outside the peak seasons.

Well up until last year UK was apart of Europe.

As long as you don’t get a vehicle with American thirst it shouldn’t really be any more expensive than doing something similar in the US (excluding your flight to Europe). Fuel will be significantly more expensive per liter (or gallon...), but distances are shorter so that compensates. Don’t forget to include parts of Eastern Europe though.

This, at least, is based on my experience cruising through all New England states last July. In my experience Europe is cheaper than that.

I can tell you Munich really needs those thunderstorms. It’s like a sauna here right now. It’s after 9 pm, I’m not wearing a shirt or socks and it’s still all sticky.

I’m the closest US/Canuck Oppo I would wager, unless there are some peeps in Newfoundland! I’m in Nova Scotia.

There’s cletus44 flying over to Goodwood Festival of Speed next week and I intend to meet him.

Meeting my first North American oppo.

Maybe you could plan for the Festival of Speed next year?

Yeah I remember that even Paris in late summer (when the French are on vacation) wasn’t too bad.

Yeah the flights would be the biggest expense, that’s for sure. Gas? Meh. I know it’s like $10 per gallon in some places but hey it’d be worth it for the fun.

We had a meet at the ‘ring last March. And got to drive it with our own cars, full speed. About 18 of us. We’ll surely organize something similar next year. That was a weekend meet too, we got to drive Spa (behind a pace car) as well.

Interesting (to me) is that, in the end, only 7 people will take part of the Alps trip this weekend, but with those 7 people we do have 6 different nationalities.
