Kinja'd!!!

Though I’m still probably going to save up for some Pilot 4S instead, but these are better for the random 4 degrees mornings in Spring.

That’s about what I paid for mine, after the exchange rate. Totally worth it.

Oh that’s Canuckistani bucks. I just put these on my ST. So far they are excellent and are supposed to last longer than the Michelin PS4s

I’ve had two sets of lower-performance DWS tires and was very happy with them. I never needed them for snow, but they were among the best all-around tire I’ve ever used.

I avoid tires from CT, Costco, etc. They sign deals with the tire manufactures, & want that model of tire made for certain price. They might put in less layers if rubber in the tire to get the cost the retailer wants. It looks like the same tire, but it could be totally different.

Yeah, the “snow” part is really for Spring mornings here. There’s that odd freezing morning in March or April. It’s for my Solstice.

Well the main thing is 4S isn’t available in 45s yet. It’s for my summer so I don’t drive enough to have wear as a concern lol.

Crappy tire is always more expensive than the independents

Actually, this was why I asked. I compared the list price of my usual shop, CT came out $100 less. Now of course I didn’t factor in installation at CT yet, not sure how much they charge for 45s.

DWS06 is a UHP all-season, Pilot 4S is a Max Performance summer. Totally different tires. Stick with summer tires. I’m in Wisconsin and the random cold spring mornings are fine on my summer tires. You’ll be fine.

Looking at Canadian Tire for your size, they have the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 and BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comp 2 summer tires for basically that same price as the DWS06. Between those I would choose the BFG.

(I have the all-season version of the Comp-2 on my wife’s car and they’re great for an all-season. The summers are supposed to be even better.)

These are probably more comparable with the Pilot Sport A/S3 than the PS4S. FWIW I was very happy with my A/S3s and will strongly consider them again when I’m done with the stock Dunlops on my WRX.

Yeah, I’m on the fence about pure summer as well, also considering the wear characteristics. Only in recent year my V12 Evos started to feel slippery in the cold, otherwise they’re OK, so it’s not a big factor for me.

I do know they are different, but last I checked price range wise they aren’t that much more over the span their lifetime, so that’s why I’m “cross shopping” them.

That price seems decent (assuming CAD). I’ve running those on my Outback XT for a little over a year now. Not sure I’d recommend them though if you’re aiming for the likes of Pilot 4S, since the DWS 06 are a bit squishy-feeling and don’t really stand out in terms of noise, comfort, or dry handling capabilities IMO. That said, they do a great job of handling cold and wet weather. Michelin has an offering in the same category as the DWS06 (Pilot Sport A/S 3+) that might be a better fit if you still want something sporty that won’t fall flat on its face in freezing temperatures.

If you’re considering the UHP all-season category but not concerned about winter ability, DWS06 would not be my first choice. They’re designed specifically to offer as much winter grip as possible within the category and have some tradeoffs as a result.

For what you’re describing, I would look at the BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 A/S, General G-MAX AS-05, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, and Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus (Revised Compound)

Yeah, that’s CAD. The quoted price seems $100 lower than my usual place.

Probably not, and you might have more fun with the slightly lower limits of grip if you choose not to go for a max performance tire, with longer life to boot.

Had these tires, they were terrible. Lasted no time at all and were terrible in just about all conditions. I can only think of 1 tire I like less, and those were Perrelli Scorpions. Different vehicles, but still left me with such hatred for them. I will never buy another set of Continental tires ever after having these.
