I may have got myself into a small issue on Jalopnik. A comment of mine has apparently been put back into the greys and it doesn’t seem to appear in the general feed anymore even if you select to view pending. That’s even after the post author responded to my comment...
Who knew that a Porsche could be this interesting? Or perhaps I am merely deluded myself into five seconds of minimal significance on the internet.

welcome to the land of the perma-banned. I don’t even miss being able to comment on Jalopnik, really. Other than Torch’s amusing what-ifs they’re really becoming lightweights.
more galling to me is that after I was tossed into the shadowbanned, at some point they did a “sweep” and all of my comments are gone. Completely gone forever. And any replies to my comments are also gone forever. All those conversations with Sean MacDilbert while he was running Lanesplitter, gone.

Same here. Content quality there has vanished anyway, no big loss. Some very sensitive types there, never call them out in error, don’t say a bad word about certain brands, etc. MacDilbert could be similar, too.

That last fake news bit was a bit uncouth, suggesting that Jalopnik field conjecture as truth to force Porsche’s hand.
Also, Porsche is one of the major ad buyers on Jalopnik this season, so that could be the thing that elevated it from a graying to banning.

What really drew me to Jalopnik in the beginning was the commenter/author interaction, and how much the authors seemed to appreciate the community and be open to discussion. There are a few authors around who still follow this model, but its not the same.

I saw that yesterday. There’s basically 3-4 things that could have happened...
1. Your comment was dismissed. This removes the comment and all subsequent comments from the article feed.
2. You were banned. This removes any comment you have ever made from the article feeds.
3. You were sent to the gray and your comment was dismissed. The comment was removed from the general feed, and any new comments you make on the FP will be gray.
You don’t seem to be banned because your other comments still show up in the feeds. I would think they just dismissed it (option 1) but can’t say for sure until you try to comment on the FP again.
Ultimately the comment and response didn’t add anything, really, so they made the decision to get rid of it rather than get called out over a non-existent issue.

The fake news quip was simply a veiled attempt to both whinging about the zero quality advertising and suggest to Alanis that in the absence of info about something she wanted to write about...she should make something up. Perhaps she might get a clarification from Porsche NA as a result...

I was drawn in back in the days of Murilee Martin and the odd car sightings in Alameda. Then he left, it was stagnant but OK, but a couple years ago became both brash and sensitive, with easily offended “editors” (sarcastic quotes). Not the same. The comments also appear to be competing with Youtube for quality.

Yep, I’ve seen nothing but Porsche ads the last week, plus they’ve done a sponsored post. No one can tell which advertisements you’re seeing unless you say which. Sorry the companies buying the ads targeted at you suck and seem pretty dishonest. :(

That’s the bottom of the barrel journalism, and severely discredits any news reporting outlet. Making up sources and info to provoke a response could open them up to potential libel suits or other legal action.
