Today, one year and three days since I came home with my 1993 Sentra SE-R I had to bid it good-bye. Money troubles had begun afflicting me and my buddy whose backyard I was storing it in said it had to go as he prepared to move out of state. Some calls were made and I found a Nissan specialist who offered me $200 for my crank-walk rust-bucket special, its parts to go to help more complete cars live anew.

Kinja'd!!!

Here we got it loaded on my buddys drift-car-tow rig.

Sitting behind his house. Anyone want a non-running $600 nissan hardbody truck?

An absolute unicorn: a 5-speed SE-R transmission that actually has a working 5th gear.

Kinja'd!!!

Behold. When a flywheel says “Not for street use” this is what they mean. Super lightweight flywheel with not enough meat on the ring gear to stand up to the amount of use it would get on a daily driver. On the plus side, the Sentra would rev like a motorcycle.

Kinja'd!!!

Engine “reinstalled” for transport. Lots of good parts here that will probably end up in a Silvia of some description.

Fare thee well SE-R. What little of your paper-thin ungalvanized sheet metal was left was a damned attractive little coupe that would surprise the hell out of more modern cars. Braap in heaven little Sentra.

This makes me a loss less sad than I thought its inevitable death would. That car was such an unfathomable piece of shit but I had some great memories in it. I hope the engine and trans go in something worth at least 4-digits; they’re the only things on that car that deserve it.

Exactly how not running is that pickup. From the front end I can see it looks reasonably clean.

Shit that reminds me that 5th gear exploded on the one I had.

The engine spun its thrust washers into oblivion so it needs a rebuild. The trans is good though, and all the suspension is brand new OEM replacements. And the glass is all good. And some of the interior bits. It was a hell of a ripper when I finally got the engine all tuned up. It’s no wonder you hated it so much; it was pretty fucked up between the ebay garbage suspension and the utterly horrid fueling.

It’s very clean. And straight. There’s really no reason it wouldn’t fire right up once the appropriate parts are bolted back on except for a highly suspect “custom” oil pan that just acts like a shitty seive for oil.

Damn pic didn’t send. Here we go. For $600 I wish I could afford a project. Even a KA24 would be great in that thing.

99% of SE-Rs are 5 speeds. Not on purpose, mind. They just are.

Almost bought an SE-R in ‘91, got a CRX Si instead. Still wonder about that decision.

How much money did you sink into it after the dollar and the road trip?

$250 or thereabouts. New starter motor, front strut mounts twice, new springs all around, new shocks all around, one brake rotor, fuel pressure regulator.
