Kinja'd!!!

I have a headache and the coffee isn’t helping. Today is my wife’s birthday. Friday is my 27th anniversary. Some people say you’re only as old as you feel. I prefer to say that you don’t have to feel as old as your are. That said, I feel old today.

It must have been really chilly when that picture was taken.

You can tell because the tires have lost a little pressure.

Bras were very different back then.

We lost a lot of good men back in those days.

Who wouldn’t star someone’s appreciation for Mako Vette. Do you know what happened to the car?

No idea. I just stumbled across that photo this morning in the course of my usual internetting.

I’m trying to star your star comment, but I can barely read the newly ‘formatted’ kinja comments and can’t find the star.

Every time I click the star the page just snaps back to the top, and every time I publish a comment or post it says that I did so successfully but the page never reloads. Every time they rearrange the furniture around here the site stops working properly.

Edge, Chrome, and Firefox all display different layouts of kinja pages for me. Firefox is currently winning with the ‘best’ pages. But that will probably change with the release of the next Flash update.

I’m using Safari on the Mac. It’s been fine for a long time. I used to use FF, but Safari supports autocorrect where FF doesn’t, which is helpful for all of the long aviation history posts I write inside Kinja.

I can’t decide what is more pointy, the mako shark or the model. Both are supreme examples of 60's fashion.

Kinja'd!!! "ttyymmnn" (ttyymmnn)

Because bras were designed by men? I really have no idea beyond “fashion.”

Actually, the correct phrase is “ Youth is wasted on the Young .”

The older you get, the more profound this becomes.

BRAS WERE DESIGNED BY MEN?!?

Kinja'd!!! "ttyymmnn" (ttyymmnn)
06/21/2017 at 10:29, STARS: 0

Not entirely. About 50-50. These bullet bras or cone bras were popular in the 50s and 60s as part of the sweater girl fad. As for who invented the cone bra, I don’t know. As with any fashion trend, it probably got to the level of absurdity before people reacted with smaller bras or no bras in the later 60s.

As a side note, this is the GM concept.

Rosen built a replica called the Maco Shark (not a typo) that’s a bit different.

This is a Maco:

Nice catch! I saw the paint, the “shoulders” over the front wheels, and the shark badge on the rear edge of the hood (missed Mako vs Maco), and just assumed from there.

I never knew the BM car was based on a GM concept/prototype.

So we’ve got the Mako Shark, the Maco Shark, and the Maaco Shark:

LOL.

Was thinking of Maaco just recently. I bought a gallon of DP90LF last weekend and realized that just the gallon of paint (with no activator) was about twice the price of an Ambassador paint job.

We’ve actually been trying out some Evercoat 100738 (their FinishSand 4:1) on a few of our own projects (waiting to make sure it’s got longevity before putting it on customer projects), and have been happy with it.

Price is good ($70/gal, $22/qt catalyst), goes direct to metal, sprays well, sands well, and compliant with waterborne and urethane refinishing systems.

Unfortunately, spraying it smells like you’ve microwaved a bowl of Evercoat filler, but thats the only downside we’ve seen as of yet.
