He wants you to give him $5,000 to take a car that still has $10,000 left on the note?

Give him a break, he invested 10K in the car already!

To be fair, they’re looking for someone to do it.

I’m looking for someone to give me an AMG GT for free. I don’t really expect to find that person, but it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye out.

Sounds like he wants someone to pay him $5K cash for the privilege to take over his remaining $305/mo payments.

What is that, a $8-10K car at best?

“Invested”

Apart from that being wrong... I don’t understand the mentality here. You’d “invest” 10k into a car you don’t technically own, and are now having to get rid of because you can’t pay off that 10k..

YOU COULD HAVE OWNED THAT CAR BY NOW YOU FUCK

Besides that he wants 5k on top of that? Nah. Maybe if you hadn’t f’d with it and it was a straight sale for 15k rather than a takeover.

Yeah......... The payment could make sense depending on what he paid and when he paid it, but $15k for a 2009 Si doesn’t. I traded-in my 2009 Si in 2012 for around that...

There is always this side to it. There’s a spot, however, between long shot” and “SUPER far-fetched” where the genuine idiots appear to hang out. And they all appear to be dead serious about this stuff.

$5k to pay $10k in $300 installments for someone’s project car? Or $15k for a new car with a warranty? Now that’s a hard choice right there.

So, for $5k, I get the opportunity to be making payments on an 11 year old Civic with $10k of (undoubtedly) shitty mods? Sign me up!!

I’ve seen people trying to get someone to take over their lease where there is like 5000miles left and 2yrs and they want the person to give them the 2k down payment they gave to the dealership.

This isn’t actually that ridiculous. Carmax has 2009 Civic Si sedans between $12k - $15k depending on mileage. After the Carmax tax I would imagine a similar Civic Si would be around $10k from a dealer, and he wants $5k cash to get into another car after unloading this one, and he feels his “investment” is worth that $5k. Bonkers, but not that bonkers.

So he owes $10,000 that is being paid back at a rate of $305/month. And he wants an additional $5000 to help cover the $10,000 in modifications this idiot did to the car.

The only thing missing is the number of months left on the loan and the interest rate.

At the very least, he’s asking for $15,000... but that assumes a 0% interest rate. It can be way more if the interest rate is high which means there would be a lot more than just 33 months left on the loan.

I vote crack pipe.

LOL... “You want ME to give YOU $2000? Noooo... if you want me to take over this shitty lease, YOU are going to pay ME to take this liability off your hands... $2000 should do it.”

And it sounds like he wants to keep the existing loan - so you give him the money and he promises to make the payments. That would be heck no.
