On my way home there is an on ramp what merges onto the highway at a location where its pretty slow moving, to the point that the merging lane will be moving at 5 mph. People usually merge A, B, A,B, like a civilized society. Lately I’ve been trying to merge and the d-bag wont let me in, because we all know that that one car will delay you to an unacceptable amount. The dumbest part of this is the next lane is moving quite a bit faster, so I wait to merge, switch lanes and pass the person who would not let me in.
On the way to work today the girl 2 cars back would beep every time traffic stopped. This is in stop and go traffic trying to get by a construction site. She then tried to pass on the shoulder. Unfortunately for her it wasn’t wide enough for 2 cars so she ended up almost grinding the curb. The cop at the construction site had words with her.

The biggest problem I see here is people not bothering to accelerate to freeway speed on the ramp. They then try to merge at 10 mph below the speed limit and wonder why they are getting honked at or tailgated. Then there are the ones who have a dedicated lane which starts at their ramp, yet insist on moving left into the middle lane at 10 mph below the speed limit. YOU HAVE A 1/4 MILE OF PROTECTED LANE!!! I’ve determined that some people are incapable of checking their blind spot while accelerating/merging. They get close to freeway speed, to the merge zone, look over their shoulder, and stomp on the brakes, EVERY SINGLE TIME. So they’re already slow and trying to get up to the speed of traffic, but they instinctively brake as they try to merge. Incredibly frustrating if you’re trying to give them space to get in.

I live on an island. This morning the bridge opened briefly during the rush hour. If you’re, say, around a corner and can’t see the bridge and you conclude everyone is sitting there just for funzies you have the option of leaning on your car horn* or angrily try to pass everyone until you find out who the idiot actually is (but it’s still everyone else for being in your way).
*It should cost $20 to blow your car horn. If it’s not worth the $20 to you, it isn’t an occasion to blow your horn.

I having been getting really annoyed at the people who merge into zipper merges. If lane A and lane B are in a zipper merge, don’t merge in from lane C.

What are you thinking? That space was left for people in the zipper, not so you could shoot over to get the exit 1/2 mi away when we are all going 20 mph.

I was in new york last summer, and my hotel was right by a bridge. People just honked 24/7 mostly it seemed out of frustration because they were not moving at freeway speeds. Its insanity to me. Honk if you’re trying to avoid an accident. Otherwise STFU. Seriously, the ability to follow traffic laws is essentially what separates first and third world countries. (okay some other stuff too)

The slow mergers are why my mpg is so low, as soon as I can I get to the next lane over and floor it while they’re still going 10 under

sometimes people will merge left ASAP which leaves the onramp open, people will then change lanes onto the on-ramp to pass 1 or 2 cars and then have to merge back in before the lane ends.
