Kinja'd!!!

Do other vehicles of your model have a weird effect on you? If end up by another Gen1 Colorado on the road, I’m immediately transformed into your typical social-eggshell-walker. I will let them in, unquestioningly. If they are behind me and seem to want to go faster, I will speed up for them, and often keep pace with them after they have a chance to get by. I will be the most careful driver I know how to be around them. I will try to sit beside them at lights, all in the name of Colorado brotherhood. Unless they do something assholey, even inadvertently, then they immediately become the lowest of low for disgracing the brotherhood they didn’t even know they were part of.

Kinja'd!!!

*Details may be are exaggerated, but you get the idea... I get weird around other Colorados.

New ones too, to an extent, but more in a “Hey! Nice truck! I too have a truck!” sort of way.

When I had my Volvo, yeah we sort of had a connection; especially if it was a C30 or an R.

I don’t feel that way anymore with my Accord. At all. Maybe because most people who drive it don’t care. I don’t really know.

I try to do the same but other r50 pathfinder owners are usually 20-30 year old women who wanted an SUV for the sake of it or old guys who bought one as a cheap beater. Pretty bad demographics for driving skill.

When I drove my 3rd gen 4runner I would always be polite to other runner drivers and they would usually do the same

I wonder if I would do it if I just had an ordinary Colorado. I’m kinda weird... I hate it when people notice me, yet at the same time I really like it when anything unique about my stuff gets noticed.

It’s quite likely I’d just want to blend into the crowd.

Oh this is a fun one.

Audi - I rarely ever notice another as they all look the same, no change to disposition or driving habits

Ranger - Some comradery/waves, even double finger guns... Usually just each driver is just peepin’ the other guys truck.

Grom - “What up dude!!!” as with most motorcycles lots of friendliness. Especially with other quirky bikes, electrics, old bikes etc...

M3 - Don’t even look at me cause I’m not looking at you. Don’t ask about it, don’t park near it, at most certainly don’t touch it. Multiply this sentiment x 1000 for a driver of a poorly modified E46. Oppo is the only place I will chat about the most glorious vehicle I’ve owned/own.

I have noticed that S600 owners have their own unspoken club. It is exceedingly rare to encounter another in the wild, but it also transcends generational lines. I’ve had a guy in a brand new W222 stop traffic for me to let me and my W220 into a turn lane.

The real problem is in right of way situations where we always want to be polite and yield to the other 600, so everybody ends up doing nothing until somebody caves to ‘the wave’ and goes first.

E38 people just stare at each other. At school I would find e3x, e9x, and Fxx chassis parked next to me. I rarely see another e38 in traffic so no interactions with them.

YJ people are weird (I mean look at me for example), one douche in town with a chromed out black YJ won’t wave back. That jeep is JC Whitney rolling catalog with the amount of useless chrome. Dude is bigly yuge and that jeep is struggling to move his mass. I get more waves from TJ and JK owners than YJ people (most of them are rust buckets and junked here). I also rarely encounter YJs on the road. I drive the square headlight orphan jeep so CJ rollover-bois, ignore me as well. As for traffic, the majority of issues are with people in JK unlimiteds not knowing how to merge. If it wasn’t a jeep, I would have no problem laying the horn on them.

Old MBs have the “brotherhood” as much as any other vehicle, you’ll usually get a smile and wave or a chat if the situation is right. Old cars in general can be this way, too.

New MBs though, almost not at all, you either get the Camcord “I don’t care about cars” thing, or the BMW aloof/dbag thing.

There’s always the WRX wave, but as others have said, it’s usually in passing. When I’m in my old truck, it’s no big deal. There are millions of trucks around the south. In the Outback or the Explorer, I might as well be invisible. If not for the pinstripe, my wife’s Explorer would look exactly like the 10 others that were sold from the same lot in the same trim in the same color with the same wheels. One of us.

Although the last time I saw another 3rd gen in my 3rd gen we waved/flipped our lights up at each other.

My next vehicle is probably going to be a pre-beak 1st gen RDX. So I’d probably deal with the same (lack of) reaction as I do with the 5G.

Yea there seems to be a small truck alliance in general. I’ve chatted with a few Tacos and a few Dakota guys. Everyone has been most pumped about the fact that its a 5 speed. It seems like everyone that has owned a small truck has adored it.

There are lots of reasons that I’m so standoffish with the M3. First of all I’ve only “met” a hand full of other BMW owners who aren’t complete tools. I say “met” because they are all Oppos. The car is Phoenix Yellow so it draws a lot of attention, and I’m always fielding the same questions/statements. “Is that a factory color? What made you choose it?” or “Great car, bad color.” “Must be nice.” These are almost always uttered by some jackass who is leasing a brand new base 3 series/A4/C class.

Beyond that I bought the car when I was 22 and very unhappy. I worked 3 shitty jobs and paid more than $800/month on it for 4.5 years while being anal retentive about repairs/maintenance/cleaning. The car aside from being an absolute joy to drive pulled me out of a life nosedive.

So now I’m a total Scrooge about it, I don’t even like having a passenger when I drive it. If I drive it to something and don’t like the parking situation, I’ll go home haha. It’s somewhat if not totally irrational, but I can’t help now. I’ve got too much of everything invested.
