No strokes, or maybe a 2-stroke (although I feel this animation must be wrong - why would it only fire on one side of the rotor?):

It can only fire then because the intake and exhaust are on the other side.

I think it would be 2 strokes since compression happens at the same time that intake is happening, and ignition and exhaust occur at the same time as well.

Sorry, not explaining properly. Why would you have two lobes with no fuel when you should only have one? I would think it would intake fuel as each lobe passes. See the spark plugs firing every time, even with no fuel shown? I would think it would work like this.

In the animation, the side opposite A is the only one used, which I think is wrong.

That GIF has the combustion chambers colored poorly, hence your confusion. On a Wankel every side of the rotor gets fuel when it passes the intake port, as you correctly deducted.

ahhh as someone else said I think thats just the animation they should.

It’s firing once for each lobe though. Each lobe goes through a suck-squeeze-bang-blow cycle.

There has been work on two/four strokes too. They use either system depending on load.
