I was recently complaining to my wife about how I have trouble using wired earbuds while cleaning and washing the car. I’m constantly alternating between squatting and standing which means that I’ll frequently end up looping the cord around my knee and then rip the earbuds out when I stand up.

She got me these Anker Slim Buds and I am thoroughly impressed after ~3 hours of use. I cleaned the car inside and out yesterday and really enjoyed being able to listen to music without catching a cord on anything.

Pairing is a snap, the sound quality is great, and they’re very comfortable. On top of that, they snap together magnetically when not in use so they can hang around your neck and not fall off.

All this for $26 on Amazon . Highly recommend.

They’re great. Plus you can leave your phone on the shelf rather than in your pocket saving it from bumps and bruises while working.

Yep, I just left my iPod inside the garage door where it was safe from overspray from the hose. Worked great.

Once you go Bluetooth you can’t go back to wired! I hated ripping my buds out when standing up so I feel your pain.

Nice! I just leave my phone on a shelf and play over the lousy phone speaker. These look like a nice option to avoid having to do that.

Hmm, I wonder if they make a style more like the Apple bud. I hate in ear buds. Just so uncomfortable.

I’m the opposite. I can’t stand the Apple ones.

Earbuds, of any kind, always fall out of my ears. Those look super nice, but it’s giant, over-the-ear cans for me or bust. Heh.

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but why not just use your car’s stereo while cleaning the inside? That’s what I do (because of aforementioned earbud issues).

And our families must’ve been on similar wavelengths, because I got my dad headphones for Father’s Day, too. He hinted that he wanted some over-ear ones like mine. I got him some noise cancelling Sonys. :)

Have you ever tried any with those little finger things that are on these? I’ve never had any with those before, but I assume they’re there to help grab your ear.

Occasionally I’ll use the car stereo if I’m listening to a Cubs game or something on the radio, but most of the time I like to use buds because if I’m not listening to music, I’m listening to an audiobook and I’m kind of weirdly private about other people hearing what I’m listening to. That, and vacuuming negates the car stereo.

Oooh! Whatcha been listen-reading? Heh. I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately, so I can understand. When it’s the spoken word, it’s weird to have it blasting over a stereo.

I just started my umpteenth Tom Clancy novel last week. This one is Dead or Alive , and it’s read by Lou Diamond Philipps! I’m also working on Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. It’s kind of a two-path non-fiction piece, half about the construction of the 1893 Worlds Fair in Chicago, the other half about a terrible serial killer by the name of H. H. Holmes, who killed a bunch of people around the same time.

On top of that, I’ve been slowly making my way through Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History podcasts for the last couple years. They keep getting back burnered by the books, though.

I’ve had good luck with swapping out the silicone caps with the compressible foam type (similar to cheap ear plugs). You roll them down a bit, insert and they stay put as the foam expands. Love them for running the trimmer or snowblower, work well for running as well.

No issues with them cutting out? The couple pairs I have will cut out if my phone is in my pocket.

Only if I get too far away or get behind some kind of obstruction. For example, I had my iPod about 15 feet from the front of the car and when I would be squatting down by the back of the car with the car in between me and the iPod, they cut out a few times for a split second. Otherwise, I was able to walk around our 1500 sq ft main level without any issues.

That’s good to know. I’ve been looking for a set that will give me better range.
