Spent the day on the river today. Got to test my new swivel seat setup and it held up great.
Also just ordered a sketchy chinese electric outboard motor with a claimed output of 4hp. If it is even 2hp it will still be a great deal.

The Xmas seat was pure genius. That motor... what’s the max the inflatable can handle? I’d have to go with gas from my previous electric outboard experience.

I was so proud when I rigged it up. Work better than the solutions that are literally made for it.
Max hp is 6-8 depending on 2 or 4 stroke, but people mount 15 jets and other oversized motors with no trouble.
I would have easily gone 5hp 2 stroke but 2 of the closest lakes and the closest rivers are electric only. This is more of a guinea pig experiment than looking for the best performance. If this thing gives torqueedo-like performance for 1/10th the price then ill be happy with it. If not, pick up a 5hp gasser on craigslist for like $300 and be done with it.
Seems like a cool technology since most trolling motors have shitty brush motors and are weak as hell. This thing is 4x the voltage, 1000watts, and uses a beefy brushless motor for an electric wheelchair.
Did some google translate scheming and found videos and reviews of the motor that I translated and there are 100+ positive reviews. Zero reviews on the american sites, but thats how it goes with products like this.

Pretty much anywhere in the us you can do some Googlefu and find a small outboard rental. You should definitely do that for a cheap one time just to get the feel. Good luck sounds like fun. And nice clean electric only lakes are great for swimming and fishing. Enjoy!

I take friends boats out all the time with 5-60hp outboards so ill probably have one of them slap a small one on the boat to see how it does. This thing will be fun though for trolling all the guys with regular trolling motors at the electric lakes. Maybe itll be fast enough that patrol comes up and inquires if its gas. Theyll definitely get a kick out of it.
Definitely will end up getting a gas motor as well though since they are so affordable used.
