!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Ten year old S8 with 85k miles. $23k sounds enticing, but is this just going to end up with the owner in tears (or divorce court)?

Ten year old performance Audis fall into the same category for me as Brooklands. It would be a really sensible choice for me if I were rich, but I wouldn’t touch one with a ten foot pole unless I had new Continental money.

How else do you plan on acquiring a Lamborghini V10?

...so I feel your pain.

Man this looks like fun.

Except that it would be like playing Russian Roulette with your bank account.

Would a rich dude be in the market for a ten year old Audi? Probably lease a new one, yeah?

I don’t know that a rich dude would be in the market for a twenty year old Brooklands either, but I’m too poor and too smart to own one.

I picked up a 2009, but I have access to a shop with a hoist. So I figured if it came down to it, I can drop the engine and trans out to do a major repair if it needed it. Hopefully won’t come to that, but gotta be prepared. If I didn’t have the access that I do, I’d probably pass. Also having an extra vehicle helps. They are fun, big cars. I’d rather the aluminum bodied Audi instead of a rust prone s-class or 7-series. The v10 is supposed to be a relatively reliable engine, trans is supposed to be decent as well. The intakes are problematic on the early years, so ‘07 could be an issue. And eventually the air springs will fail, but as long as you know the problem areas going in, then go for it. I’m planning to do an intake decarboninng in a couple thousand miles when I do the plugs at 55k, so this will be a bit of a big service for it, probably drain and refill the trans as well. The fluid is pretty pricey, but a bit of prevention for down the road. Now I just need to do something about the exhaust, so i can hear the V10 wail.

Yeah I got the bug a while back. I was really hoping caddy would bring out a long wheelbase sedan, but no dice for now, and I’ve become an Audi fan over the past 4-5 years, so S8 was the only answer for me. An A8 is so normal that I’d always be pining for that sweet v10, so I just figured why not? I love depreciation. I saw a 96 impala SS this weekend and I could definitely do one of those too, but I’ll take the polish and luxury of the late model audi’s over an older ride.

That’s the sort of thinking that lead to me buying a Jag XJ8

Aren’t there a lot of exotic materials with high burn rates in that engine? Probably not that great of an idea.
