I’m the one Who does the rust repair at reasonable prices for others while his own project languishes. There’s a third type The guy who will work on your classic car basically for free. That’s me. I’ll do it for pennies just because I like your car. Come time to sell or pay, people’s stories are long but their memories are short.

I also have in my possesion, a handwritten catalouge of 150 classic cars, not junk, many convertibles. I’m passing it around to the little guys before the old men with money get a hold of it. Understand who’side I’m on.

I understand, your in the life of classics. The whole world of classics is expensive and old people/money so for us to “save” them we need to have a trump sized wallet or at least find a successful career before were 22

“Only young people and minorities can save the old car hobby” I’m one of these young people and I feel its a little useless because I have only ever convinced one person to even slightly understand why I like cars so much. But I’m extremely pessimistic so I could be wrong.

I mean if old money would let classics go for the little money the young people had then cars would be preserved. But when something has value, your not gonna sell it for less to help anyone else. So the reason that Classic will NOT be preserved is because nobody is going to be able to afford a classic

Keep at it. Get a car you like. Enjoy it. If you’re close by, drink my beer and use my tools. Those are my kind of car guys. When it comes to business, cars aren’t the the business of honest men(or ladies). I understand why YOU like cars even if I don’t fully understand why I do. Old cars just do it for me. Driving around in an old boat makes me happy, the sounds the smells, the occaisional fixing your car on the side of the road, all part of the hobby, the real part. It just seems any combination of people, cars and money on old cars where value is VERY subjective, brings out the worst.

To be clear, in my story I was referring to saving the classic car scene as a whole, not just the cars themselves. You don’t need to build the ferris wheel, you just need people to ride it.
