Kinja'd!!!

One of my friends at Summit Racing-Shawn Morgan was tired of hearing my commuter ‘99 Civic’s protest at being run in the 2017 Super Summit auto-x. Shawn tossed me the keys to his newly imported right hand drive R32 Nissan Skyline.

It was beyond good.... even at low boost. The 225 Falken Azenis performed well as always. Shawn was even faster the next day. It kicked the rear end out as needed with rear diff bias Strong brakes. Great clutch and well balanced. RB26dett was good even before boost. Turns out left-hand shifting is something any 16 year old can master. Great experience and I can’t thank Shawn enough for the privilege.

Left hand shifting seems like it would take a long while to adjust to. Muscle memory and whatnot -- the things I’d think you’d need to A/X. How long did it take you to acclimate?

Here’s the thing about the R32.. The gears are long. First is long but just a bit too short for the course we were on. 2nd is needed, but no boost available at any speed I was traveling at. The back section had a small straight that required second gear and a small switch at the end that wasn’t power-dependent to go through and I ran out in second. On a 30 second course, the car would have benefitted from more rev-limiter or revised a/r housings on the turbos.

Not terrible. You have to wrap your hand backwards around the shifter British style to think about it a bit. See below to see wasn’t a big issue.
