Wish I had good news. My ever faithful Crusty is dying.
Lloyd, Crusty and I were headed back to Chicago for a Father’s Day BBQ and he just couldn’t do it. Just past Rockford, Il we hopped on 90 and parked behind a Semi at 70ish mph and life was good. So I thought. I looked back and saw smoke. Lots of it. Dirty mirrors? Nope. The truck ahead? Nope.
I hit the shoulder and yeah.. It was me. Shit! I got the hood open and WOOF! There’s fire! I settled that with a bottle of water. Shit!
The transmission has made a decision. Anything over 45mph and it pukes transmission fluid straight out of the fill tube and on to the exhaust manifold. Dammit!
He still got us home.

I had a car that puked fluid out the vent if I cruised above 70 or so for too long.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. No reason to give up on the truck though. Transmissions should still be pretty easy to find for those. Heck, even a junkyard one could run for a while if you think you have the patience to rebuild yours. Are you going to be hanging around again? Nobody posts at 3am except the Australians anymore.

I’m holding on to it and hoping for a replacement out of an Expedition. It’s been time for a new DD for a long while.
I’ll be around again soon, we just got slammed at work with the 90* weather and some minor flooding at home. I’m still cleaning up from that.

Yeah, I’ve been kinda looking for a while now. I’m pretty set on finding a Caprice PPV. There’s one in Wisconsin in Grey with 49,000 miles for $15k I may check out this weekend.
It’s been hectic. We had a little flooding at the end of May that I’m still cleaning up from. Work has been nuts with the sudden high temps but that’s keeping me out of trouble.

I saw the water rising and had 2 days to get anything important off the ground. (The first floor is all shop space)
I’ve had the truck 2.5 years and almost 40,000 miles. It did it’s job.

Good deal. Always interesting how long vehicles stay with an owner. I just found out one of my coworkers bought his 10th gen regular cab XL brand new for his 18th birthday 18 years ago and has been driving it as his primary vehicle ever since. I wrongly assumed he picked it up cheap a few years ago for hauling things.

I have the first week of July off. I’ll probably be around aggravating some folks then.
I started looking for a turbo Sonic or Cruze with a manual but I’m not a small car guy anymore. 15 years ago? Sure.. The PPV ticks all my boxes including a Dog friendly interior.
This is the one I have my eye on.
It’s a 2012 with 75k on the clock and only two holes in the decklid from the antennas.
