Kinja'd!!!

Here they are. I opted for Michelin Premier All Season. I had dropped off some steel acquired from demo job down town to my buddies shop which got put in the floorboard of a nova or something within days. I’m using that to trade for mount/balance/ alignment.

Van is a handful to drive and pulls right so it’s finally time. Hope to get them installed this week coming up.

1) If you are in the boston ma area let me know, I’ll mount and balance for you!

2) get an alignment soon after the new tires are on. Good to drive it for a week or so to let the tires settle in before you get an alignment for a perfecto job (if the aligner is that good). There is actually a break-in for new tires. Not that you need to drive differently, but if you are picky you will notice the balance is often off after two months or so of driving - because the tires have settled in. (if you aren’t that picky get the alignment done right away so you don’t forget about it)

I’ll drop the van off and get both done at some time.

I’m 1/2 way across the country. But since I kind of paid it forward with some steel, trading for some labor we should be about even. I’ve dropped off some thick steel before good for skid plates.

Good choice. They are fantastic.

Didn’t see that coming: break-in for the tires ahead of alignment.

Ah... Westlake tires... the same company that makes the shitty ‘Goodride’ tires that came with my current car.

I’m guessing that those new Michelin tires will be a HUGE improvement.

That’s what I experenced when I got a new set of Nokian/Nordman WR tires.

The ones in the back don’t even match. So they replaced a pair once. It rides like shit. The others are Kelly brand.

Only if you are really picky. Technically nothing changes and it shouldn’t matter, but I know a few people who are very sensitive to it. Talking about perfection here though, most alignments are just ‘close enough’ anyway. Personally I feel that alignment is all mechanical and it shouldn’t matter.

I am really picky, but not that picky. Thanks for the info!

It is noticeable as far as balancing is concerned - if you get new tires go have them re-balanced after two months or so. But I don’t think it’s worth doing for alignments...
