Kinja'd!!!

So, I bought a car last week and traded in my RX-8. Well, today the dealer’s finance office called to say they sold it at auction and need the title...today. Well, shit. I thought I had left it in the glove box. That’s on me. I phoned my wife at home, and she found the title. All I had to do next is get it all the way up to McKinney, with both me and my wife in the middle of full work days.

My salesman’s solution? He hopped in the car and drove the 31 miles to my house to get the title and my wife’s signature. But, he wasn’t done yet. He then drove the additional 5.5 miles to my work to get my sig before heading back. He played it off like it wasn’t a big deal, just the opportunity for a nice drive on a sunny day, and he wanted to try out this new sandwich shop while he was out anyway. Well, you and I know it was a big deal, and I appreciated it.

So, if you’re in the DFW area and fancy a new or used car, I recommend you stop over at Huffines Kia in McKinney and ask for Daniel.

I bought a car from the DFW are, the only problem was I was living in Corpus Christi at the time. The salesman had a solution, he was like how about I bring the car to you, for free. That was pretty great.

I don’t know why, but I would never consider an RX-8 to be a car someone would trade in, I’d be afraid of someone breaking it because they didn’t fully warm it up or something. In my mind, rotaries are to stay out of the hands of anyone that doesn’t know much about rotaries.

Most auctions have agreements with dealers that allow them a set amount of time to produce title, about 20 days from my experience. So to say they needed the title “...Today” was probably an exaggeration on their part. Good on the sales consultant putting in the extra work though.

It’s not that bad, but I told them about the low compression, and with the wear in the cabin, I doubt it will be sold to anyone to drive. I dunno, I had to do something with it. I had no room for it or money to work on it.

My first reaction was that I could just drop it in the mail to them, but it was important to them. Who am I to say? But, yeah, Daniel came through for me.

He said it was this place in Addison that supposedly had this amazing Italian beef sandwich. Ithad recently been renamed, and I don’t remember the name. I usually despair of anything authentically Italian in the DFW area; so, if it is, it might be worth the drive.

I’m really surprised they gave you credit for the car last week without a title.

I think that’s kinda on them, but still great of him to run around to you and get it.

Damn you, For Sweden. I can’t decide whether to gag or laugh.

And yes, we have one of those, too. And it is nice.

That’s the kind of stuff that keeps you going back. The Mazda dealer we use isn’t the closest, but it’s by far the one with the best customer service.

Yeah, I mean, they could have told me earlier, and I could have dropped it in the mail, but that’s not how it went down. So, oh well.

Also, they gave me the value on the trade-in sight unseen because I didn’t have it with me when I did the deal. I just told them what CarMax offered, gave them the VIN, and they offered the same. They didn’t see it until I came days later to pick up the new one.

Yup. My Mazda dealer happened to be the closest and have the best service. I still kinda feel bad that I didn’t buy another Mazda so I could give them my business. I always thought I would.

I’m sure you will someday. They don’t have anything that competes with what you bought though.

They don’t, and they really shouldn’t right now. But, someday if they’re positioned right, they will do it better than anyone else.

I traded a car to a dealer without a title a few years ago. Long story but basically PA DMV fucked up and mailed the title to the wrong address then refused to admit their mistake and issue a new one. Buuuuuut the dealer we traded to also didn’t go and sell the car before they got the title sorted. I think they actually put it on their used lot, though. I carfaxed it a few years later and it was still in town with 20,000 more miles.

Agreed. They’re gonna need a partner again before they try to go that upmarket.
