My obsession with this car is well documented, but I need an opinion on my plates. Just now, for the umpteenth time, some guy looked at it and said, “81 Chrysler!”
Forget for a minute the Toyota badge staring this fucking moron in the face, or the SUNCHASER badge on the side of the car.
When you see CHSR, do you read “Chrysler”?
On a car like this? Do you even know the shit that fucking Chrysler was making in 1981?
Did I do my plates wrong?

I think Chrysler when I see it. I know it’s a Sunchaser, but yeah, my head interprets those letters as Chrysler at first glance

Oh my god, what. They made that in the 80s? There are no correct lines anywhere on that car. It’s worse than a GTA ripoff of a real car. You can’t be serious with that, 80s era Chrysler. I mean...a whole group of people have to approve a car design before committing millions of dollars and years of time to production, right? A committee saw that line going from the roof to the bumper and that shrunken angular hoagie trunk and said, ‘yep, we’re gonna make that!’??? Like...How? Look at it. LOOK. AT. IT.
Chrysler was just like one guy in the 80s, right? Just one guy making everything with no feedback from anyone on anything? That’s the only explanation for this...

No. Chrysler in four letters would be, ‘CSLR’.
Sunchaser is obviously ‘CHSR’ as in CH-SuR, CHASER.

I think it’s understandable from a volume standpoint. There are infinite Chryslers in existence, and you’ve probably known about them for as long as you’ve known about cars. Meanwhile, I wasn’t aware of a sunchaser until I was 30, and even then it’s just a specialty celica, not really a completely different model. It’s not that it looks like a Chrysler (it doesn’t), it’s just that we have a much stronger association with chsr and Chrysler.

It just shows that so many people have no idea about cars. Period. Even if I didn’t recognize your car, I sure as hell knew it’s not a Chrysler. Just leave your plate as it is. Those who get it will get it, and those are probably the people you want to talk to anyway.
Also, I forgot how hideous that 81 Chrysler was. As for 80s luxury styling, remember this beauty?
