Kinja'd!!!

So I see Mike Finnegan wearing this cool JEGS hoodie on Episode 65 of Roadkill and I conclude that I desperately need one of my own. And it was expensive, at a bit over $60 with shipping. And I hate hoodies. So what to do?

Naturally, take off the hood.

Now it’s a 1-0f-1 sweatshirt. You should list it on eBay for $120.

Simplify and add lightness.

I don’t like the hood fabric bunching round my neck. And the neck hole was too narrow on this sweatshirt anyhow. Usually, the neck will be looser and won’t need the notch in the front to be loose and comfortable. That added considerably to the challenge level. Took me nearly three hours.

Thanks Dave. I hem all of my own shorts as well. I like a 12-1/2" inseam, which nobody makes, so I buy Tactical 5.11 pants and cut them off and hem them, which is a bit of a task since there is an extra layer of fabric in the knee and you have to unstitch the bottom of the cargo pockets in order to remove it. It’s fun, but a bit involved.

In other news: I should be giving Rusty a crank here in the next week or two. Maybe as early as the weekend.

Summit has lots of stuff for my ‘71 Vandura and Jegs does not. Jegs is more straight-up street rod stuff. But it was a cool hoodie and they sponsor Roadkill heavily, so it’s real good.

Nice on the cranking up Rusty.

Back to the seams: When I surfed I made my own board bags from thick terry cloth, soft military surplus strapping and nylon cord. They doubled as a beach towel, towel and sometimes a supersize laundry bag.. Only the nose was pointed. The back end had a drawstring and the nylon was a for two grab loops and a shoulder strap. Had several , two in sunflower yellow because its what fabric on sale. I recall Mom freaked a bit because the first time I sat down at her machine to make one I was still soaking wet from being at the beach.
