I guess bimmers have some of the markup built in. Fords performance cars seem to have the most absurd dealer markups. Focus RS and GT350R were tough to get close to MSPR for months.

There’s some dealership out west that has theirs marked up to $90k and has 6 in stock. I’m sure those 2 numbers are correlated.

I wish I was in charge of inventory at a cool dealership. All these cars that have been hitting crazy markups I could have called from a mile away. I assume it isnt as easy as just “Hey, let me get a couple Focus RSes” but I would be like that dealership that hoarded all the last model year vipers.

Yeah, I wasn’t going to wait 6 months after selling the GSW. Every dealer here had stupid markups. I was likely going to just get a 997 anyway, but the M2 was one of two new cars that intrigued me (the other being the GT350)

Market is dictated by supply and demand. If you want the car now, you pay the markup. It’s like selling a car outright vs trading in. It’s well known and accepted that you get less trading your car in, but time is valuable.
Stealing implies that people aren’t consenting by entering into the contract of buying. So profit is bad? I hope you only wear clothes from textiles that you manufacture and eat food that you grow and slaughter. Because there’s profit in all those things. And a much higher percentage than what you see here. Yet I don’t hear you crying foul about that.
