It wouldn’t have been so bad if he knew what he was talking about.

I bet I’d know this if I followed him on tweeter.

no it’s his haircut, it’s a dead giveaway

Unlikely.

His general history will keep him in focus for a while. Also, if you look in your heart, you know he’ll be back under the GMG umbrella at some point. AT isn’t going to see the traffic they want, mainly because their site structure is clunky as hell.

I actually liked this video but I also like Doug. The only reason people dont like it is they felt he went too much into the minute details. but if you watch any of his other videos, you know thats the thing he does. He examines every aspect of the car, not just how it drives. EngineeringExplained I found was kind of boring but did give good engineering (of course) and performance specs about the car.

I like Doug, and I don’t like any of the new civics, but this is bad. Cringe worthy even. STi/Evo suffer from wing wobble too whoopdedo..

Sorry, but engineeringexplained videos are less exciting than the articles in an in-flight magazine. Boring as in, “I fell asleep so suddenly that I hit my head on the table in front of me with enough force to get a concussion”

Doug’s reviews are really fun. Goofy, but fun. Yeah, sometimes he makes a huge point about something stupid, or goes crazy over a feature that, unbeknownst to him, is common on several cheap cars, but he’s really good at conveying the experience of driving each car from the perspective of an average Joe.

And he’s right about the Type R. It’s the best FWD vehicle ever...competing against a group of faster AWD cars.

True, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is craptacular.

Everyone fanboys it up about their brand of choice but they all have their shortcomings.

RS’s ride like crap and the interior is underwhelming

STI’s have mediocre and loud interiors, terrible sound systems, worse than necessary mileage. kind mediocre handling.

faster AWD cars

The Civic Type-R did the Nurburgring in 7:43. The Focus RS in 8:06.

Jason’s videos may be boring, but he talks about the engineering behind the car. Doug just looks at a wing and says it’s too big. Waow.

We talking about Doug or EE here? Jason did a really good job of tearing it down and talking about the small details. Doug was just being obtuse.

I agree, type R would be last on my list in this class. I actually like the STi the best.

He and EE do different types of videos. I can imagine EE pointing out flaws to any serious extent where Doug thrives on flaws.

At the end of the day I feel like a lot of the hot hatch type tuner cars are still their underlying econo-car roots but with a bunch of add ons. Like, the STI is still just an Impreza, the RS is still just a Focus, the type R is still just a Civic. As good as the cars are I’d rather have a purpose built performance car platform to start with, there’s only so much you can do with an Impreza platform, etc..

I used to think I wanted more car than theses sort but after owning and tracking my WRX I realize these are more than enough performance. If you go to something too much more hardcore you’re not going to have the talent or budget to really be able to use it!

You have to realize what it costs to really use a car in a performance setting. You burn through brakes, tires and after awhile likely engines and transmissions.

mixed reviews all around. but then thats expected from a carmaker that hasn’t done this for US buyers in a 1,000 years. I didn’t watch the EU version review since I don’t live in EU.
