So I have the C5 corvette. I looked at it from every corner now.

It’s got upgraded exhaust. It’s got upgraded rims. Color is good.

I need to make modifications to it to... own it... make it mine.

I’ve looked for ideas online and I can’t find anything I like.

I don’t really like how the wide body kit looks on C5 - compare that to 911.
It’s already got all the lights i can add to it. Rally lights don’t really belong on a corvette.

Things I was contemplating: add vents to the hood. Add big wing on the back. Throw up. Sell it. Buy a different C5 that has not yet been molested by me.

Better tires. Suspension. Engine mods. Maybe a racing stripe or two. Leave the bodywork alone.

Screw aesthetics. Pour the money under the hood instead.

Intake, cam, boost, etc etc etc...

Short throw shifter (if it’s a manual). MGW makes some really good stuff, still the best shifter I’ve used on my Mach 1 (when I had it).

Figure out how to lighten it. Maybe swap in some sport seats. Upgrade bushings or shocks to make it feel tighter.

I’m a huge fan of the non-visible changes that make a difference.

Yeah, it was about $80 or so cheaper for my Mustang than the Vette, but it also didn’t have a ball and wasn’t the cool looking flat stick.

I’m sure it’s not the only good shifter out there, the Steeda Triax I had for the T5 in my Thunderbird was 90% as sharp for half the cost. However, it just didn’t have that “Holy crap this is amazing!” feeling that the MGW had.

Granted, both were miles ahead of the stock shifter, and in both cases a shifter swap was one of the more satisfying mods I did. (Though it reminds me about how sad and sloppy the shifter is in my Legacy GT that I have now.)

I actually was going to suggest passenger seat.

Since the second line doesn’t have room to show in the notifications, I must come up with another option... how about in one of these ?

I once had an idea along those lines... I figured my ideal vehicle, if it could possibly be pieced together, was going to be a 90's Toyota Echo body shell, with a WRX driveline mated to a blown 454 BBC.

Clean it. Get the interior spotless, the exterior to shine. Pay someone to do it this one first time if you have to.

The therapeutic “clean car” feeling will curb the urgency to modify and keep you from making desperate and costly decisions.

There is the tilt adjustment and I think there is also a window glass height adjustment.

This anti venom mod thing is curious to me.

I sometimes find it hard to get into 2nd and reverse. I saw a video of a guy adjusting shifter. I was considering doing that. Froggy on youtube or something.

I don’t know if I should do this venom mod thing now.

The rubber bushings have already been replaced with poly bushings (a bit of grease and a vise helped a lot), but I still have some slop in the U-joint.

I’m currently researching to see if I can replace the worn out plastic bushings for some metal ones. I really miss the feeling that the RWD internal shift linkages give.

I believe it’s only noticeable with a short throw shifter installed. I haven’t had any problems getting into 2nd or reverse, that may require the adjustment. I do have to clutch out/in to grab 1st sometimes.

I know there is a centering spring that pushes the shifter into the center-between 3rd and 4th. I am wondering if that spring is causing me to have issues when i go from 1st to 2nd, it wants to push it to center so I end up going from 1st to 4th

I am sure of nothing, but i have seen light come on 1st to 4th shift. I am guessing that would be the skip shift gizmo you’re talking about.

In those cases, I shifted to 4th and all was fine.

I am not racing or revving high. There is no reason to skip shift

They implemented the skip shift system for emissions. I believe it can be tuned out or you can buy a little eliminator kit that disables it. Gotta love all that torque!

Kinja'd!!!

Small details: When I had my C5, the first thing I did was flush the tail lights.

Second thing was bite the bullet and install the MGW shifter. Yes, it’s totally worth the money.

C5 Z06 brake calipers (purely for the color change), Koni Yellows, and gummy tires made it a great car. Kept it super clean and low-key, which is my jam.
