Little mods to have some sort of a “curtesy” horn. Like “hey, light is green now, gentle sir”, instead of the usual “YOU FUCKTARD BETTER MOVE YOUR BAG OF SHITE”. Would make Paris more pleasant.

I’m fine just short honk/long honk. This scenario plays out fine:

Do think the sorry light would be useful though.

My car has this built in - the Chevy Volt. They call it the Pedestrian Horn and it’s trigged by pressing in the end of the turn signal, it gives three quick chirps of the horn for those stealthy silent sneakups on people that EVs can do sometimes...

I’ve never used it for pedestrians, but I have found it reduces the number of times my “excuse me good sir the light is green” toot gets the middle finger as a response.

I’m always amused at the ratio of “F*ck You!” to “Hey, Buddy!” in the use of a horn. Where I live, it’s about 90% the latter. In Paris, 99.5% the former (from my experience). In the Northeastern US, it’s neither — it’s just “Hey I Wanna Make Some Noise to Express My Surprise and Dismay that This Airport Tunnel is So Busy, Just Like Always.”

I find that the pedestrian horn doesn’t actually get other drivers to look up. Full blast for that!

Yeah Paris is... something. Good thing public transport is actually useful. Although I would love to be able to honk at some people in the metro some days.

Yeah my honk is also pretty modulable, being a small button on the end of the left stalk. But god knows people around here didn’t learn the short honk.

I love the R2D2 honk. That thing gives me so many ideas.

I use full honk when people drop cigarette butts out the window. I don’t think they know I’m honking at them though, they don’t seem to associate the honk with their recent action...
