Hey guys, have any of you heard of means to lower a Jeep? A Jeep is one of the purest forms of open top motoring, but having a car that can’t handle isn’t cool. I think dropping it an inch or so (nothing crazy or “Stance” like) and making the track wider would go a long way towards increasing stability and handling.

I believe most of the Jeeps handing issues come from having live axles both front and rear.

Bigger sway bars and stiffer springs go a long way to making these Flintstone mobiles handle better.

Like TTS said, there are many other important factors for bad handling aside from CG. If you want an open top handler...you are barking up the wrong tree.

You need uprated sway bars and stiffer/shorter springs. Adding a front sway bar to my CJ3A made a world of difference in how it didn’t roll over around corners.

In the distance, the wails of a million Jeepbros.

I can’t imagine a single thing that would improve the handling of a Wrangler. But if you want lowering springs (which would be the safest way to do it) I bet you could find them on Quadratec or some other Jeep market.

The obvious thought when seeing that this clown has a Warn 8274 is that it’s pointless - but at the same time, it *is* more likely to get stuck now if he actually offroads it. Well played, silly Lowered Jeep Man.

Bigger sway bars and stiffer springs go a long way to making these Flintstone mobiles handle better.

Better dampers help a lot too.

I helped my friend put a 4" lift on his Jeep. With the stiffer springs and upgraded shocks, it actually handles better with the lift than it did at stock height.

The answer is don’t buy a Wrangler. Soft suspension, longish travel, high CG, heavy, steering system with tons of assistance for bigger tires. To get low you have to do the same as any other 4wd and convert down to 2wd which would be a huge process.

I’ve been wondering if one of those early Wrangler unlimiteds can be found with a manual. Some of them were sold with a dummy front axle to keep up with demand.

Lower it a bit and you’d have an interesting open top wagon. Sounds fun to me.

Relocate the axles above the leaf springs? Or lowering blocks of the axle is already above the leaf springs.

Then you’d have to adjust the shocks because the travel would be less.

I’ve wanted to turn a Jeep into a kind of ‘32 roadster style machine. With bigass tires included.
