We hit 10% renewable energy nationally for the first time nationally in March! We need to keep pushing, but this is a nice milestone.

Also, one of the things Kansas can be proud of, our 30% renewable contribution. (We need to beat Iowa’s 37% though)

hell yeah! wait.. no that’s pathetic! we could be doing much much better! As soon as I own my house it’s getting a 2k panel setup. It’s bullshit that we are happy about 10%.

Has anyone actually seen a Chevy Bolt on the road?

I’ve yet to see one.

I agree (this doesn’t include hydro, which makes the percentage much higher) but we’ve got to start somewhere. As you know, we’ve got to attack this from both ends, with both higher end use efficiency and higher renewable generation.

They’re not for sale nationally yet. Only in “select markets” (aka SoCal)

Why isn’t hydro included in renewable calculations?

We need more hydro. All of the top-producing power stations in the world are hydroelectric. Doesn’t get much more “renewable” than the dam (ayyy) water cycle.

It’s usually broken out because it generates consistently and also has some serious ecological issues.

I agree, but there are some serious ecological issues to consider though. Pumped hydro has huge potential as a storage method though.

For sure, casually flooding out an entire ecosystem and putting another in its place is not a decision to be taken lightly. The benefits are immense though. Not just power generation but lakeside real estate, fishing, etc.

We should tie a rope to the edge of the ice shelf so that when they break off we can use the energy to spin turbines.

Global warming is clearly a force for good.

If in california, not always renewable. Also highly dependent in many areas on seasonal rain/snow melt.
