As far as I know Tomicas always get appreciation over at LaLD.

Good to know. Those two are the most obscure cars of my collection (which is really just a random heap of Siku, HW and Matchbox as well as several Burago and Maisto 1:24 and 1:18 models)

Sounds like my collection, haha. I have quite a few Bburago and Maisto 1:24s and 1:18s too. As well as several cheap 1:43s. All my old HW, Matchbox and Siku cars are still in a bin, that hasn’t been touched for approximately 15 years, haha.

My most prised possessions are a 1:43 Spark Alpine A220 Aileron test car, and a 1:18 Kyosho Audi R8. Bit less obscue than those Tomicas, though.

I really have the urge to buy new 1:64 everytime I see them at stores.

Wish I had something Kyosho or even AUTOart but my wallet says f you haha.

The story of how I got those two Tomicas is also quite funny, at least to me.

I have the urge too, but try to resist it, haha.

I didn’t buy that one, I won it by answering a question in the back of my high school pocket calender like 5 years ago. Back then it had a value of about €100,- IIRC, and the quality definitely shows that. The Spark I got in an online clearance, so didn’t pay full price on that either.

Now I’m curious how you got them!

W00t? Such an awesome prize! Wish we have had something similar in my school back then.

I got the two Tomicas when I was about one or two years old in a touristy old medival town called Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a very popular town for tourists. Especially Asians and Americans love that little town because it is what everyone imagines Germany. We where visiting that town and my parents pushed me around in a stroller. There where many travel groups from Japan that day and my mother just told me to wave my hand at a group just out of fun- of course I do it because I’m two frickin years old and that actually caught their attention. So a guy walks over and hands me those two cars just for waving at them.

Actually it was a pocket calendar that I bought myself, which was made by a car magazine. They had a full line of school stuff, so I guess it didn’t hurt them too much to give away one €100 toy (and a few cheaper things for other winners)

That’s an awesome story!!

Shared. They are most definitely worthy.

Hell yes, any Tomica is LaLD worthy - and these are old enough to be doubly worthy!

That Skyline investigation car isn’t all that common either.

Skyline + Tomica: I know a few guys fainting as we speak.

So yep. Totally. I even know guys on LaLD lusting for everything with flashing lights.

Hi, fellow die cast collector. Siku, majorette and the other European brands that aren’t sold in the US are also highly coveted among the LaLDers.

I really love the Skyline even though I wasn’t that impressed when I first discovered that I had them. What a fool I must have been back then in third grade! Would never ever sell or trade it.

I wanted something similar to your setup for my coffee table but went for fancy shmancy car books. It also makes me feel bad because my Sikus are locked away in old bins collecting dust. Too bad most Majorette cars didn’t survive but I still got a Z3 clownshoe and SL500 somewhere.

Well, to be exact, the Skyline Investigation car was offered from June 1999 to February 2004.

The Super Ambulance from August 1996 to August 2008.
