We have a Certified Preowned TEN MILE 2017 Renegade on our lot that came in while I was on vacation.... its got the 1.4L T and a 6-speed MANUAL. But its only FWD. Should I even bother? I mean, the CPO warranty is worth it once the factory warranty runs out, and the depreciation hit is gone.... but its a FWD Jeep. Eww.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

But its also PMY....

10 miles? So, what, they drove it home from the dealer and then decided they didn’t want it?

First, it’s a FWD Jeep which should never be a thing. Second it’s Italian and ugly but only my opinion

It’s also a first model year car from FCA. been there, done that *cough* 2013 Dodge Dart GT 6-speed *cough* and now I only buy Toyotas until my soul heals.

Search the forums for anecdotal evidence about the Fiat 6-speed transmissions... they’re garbage. Even with a factory warranty it wasn’t enough to EVER make me trust the Dart. It spent a ridiculous amount of time in the shop. Never ever ever again. The only FCA product I will consider will be a Ram 3500 with the Cummins/Aisin drivetrain combo.

*side note: our 2014 Wrangler Rubicon is a peach, so there’s that.

How does this even happen? I mean 10 miles? Couldn’t it be sold as a new car?

If you ignore the Jeep badge it’s jsut a cool little hatch so it’s ok to be FWD.

Personally IDK if I could ignore the fact that it’s a FWD jeep, but if you can and you want it it could be a fun and practical little car.

They probably titled it and then changed their minds.

Exactly. Stop thinking of it as a Jeep but instead think of it as a hatchback. It all works out.

I would go for it. It’s basically a small manual hatchback/wagon.

Nothing wrong with that.

And Jeep has almost as long of a history making 2wd vehicles.

This is actually the configuration I would prefer for myself.

Would I buy it for myself, no. Do I think it would be a good choice for my wife, yes. In this configuration it’s a fwd hatchback like most have said, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

If you were in the market getting something that’s virtually new, and has tons of warranty coverage is hard to beat.

What all goes into a 4x4 swap? Obviously the drive components will all need purchased and won’t be cheap even from salvage, but like, are there major differences in body/frame and suspension and stuff, or is it like an XJ where everything is the same so you just unbolt the front beam and trans and slap the front axle and trans/tcase into the thing and put all the same bolts back in?

Forget about all the FWD rubbish like, ‘it’s a FWD’, yadda yadda yadda.

I don’t like them because of lack of space, small boot, seats are too upright (feels like sitting on a school chair) and the tacky Jeep logos everywhere and the ride is too firm.

Bad idea. Unless you want a major modification project.

It was sent to auction by the dealer that originally had it because it had “transportation” damage that was repaired.

It’s a great little car. Seriously they are dirt cheap and get good gas mileage. There is plenty of room to fit big stuff that doesn’t fit in a car and it is not so big that it feels like you are driving a bus. My only caution is that the 1.4T and manual sucks in stop and go traffic. The combination of super low first gear and huge (HUGE) turbo lag make it an absolute pain in the ass. If you live where traffic flows well it is an awesome little car.

But how? It takes about 4 weeks here to get your new vehicle title. How could they of only driven 10 miles in that time. Unless they bought it, drove 2 miles home, decided nah.. let it sit for weeks and drove it 2 miles back to the dealer. I know that only adds up to 4 miles, I’m giving 6 miles for loading/unloading, and a test drive.

I live in a small town and have a 6 mile commute on a 45mph two lane road with very few stop signs. Sounds like I’d manage ok.

Jeez, I was thinking of how it works here. You can title it at the dealership and you get the paper version in a week at the most. In your case I would agree with you.

Only thing I can think of is the dealership completed the paperwork for the sale, but the underwriting of the loan didn’t go thru after the buyer was initially approved. I’ve heard of people being forced to bring a car back 3 days from purchase (because they lied about their income/debt). Still, you’d expect more miles though.

If you want to go for extremely unlikely: customer ordered car, car arrives and is officially purchased and titled, customer hates it and returns it. I would like to know the real scenario.

They aren’t the most reliable things, being an FCA product. Just make sure the warranty is good.
