But if the 5series GT truly is “elegant beyond compare”, I’m sure it will blow the liftback competition out of the water stylistically, right?
Right. Audi needs to leave the liftbacks to the pros.

Don’t ask me. I’m still trying to cope with the coupe SUV’s. All the inferior cargo space and rear headroom of a coupe, with the poor driving dynamics of an SUV. Toss in a rediculously high beltline for good measure. Brilliant!

They’ve done saloons and estates so long that hatchbacks on the larger cars don’t come naturally to them.
The 1, 2 and 4 Series are good lookers though.
I’d have a 2 Series anytime.

Note that the GTs are also longer wheelbase - the 5GT is based on the SWB F01 7-series, the 3GT is based on the Chinese-market F35 LWB 3-series. The 4GC is on the standard 3/4-series wheelbase.

I guess the CEO of BMW just doesn’t give a f*** knowing that buyers in some market will purchase the GT. Im guessing the market is in europe or the middle east or something?
