Suburbans are silly big. We had one as a rental in Tahoe, and it was gigantic. I could not get over the size.

If it’s truly mated to an Allison trans and the injectors are good, worth every cent of $8k. Though i would guess his reserve is close to $14k. Still worth it, but be careful that just because he upgraded the engine (and hopefully trans and case) doesn’t mean the diffs or axle was.

I sometimes feel like my GMT400 Burb is big, then I park it next to any contemporary crew cab half ton pickup and it looks kinda small. 6'7" + kiddos + doggos + travel trailer = Suburban. Not many cars will fit the bill quite like they do!

I’m not real worried. It’s a 3/4 ton, so 14 bolt FF in the rear and the front... Not really sure what they got, honestly. Should be the same as the trucks that the D-max came in. Honestly, I can’t even find a 6.0 gas-powered 2500 Suburban for much less than $10k, and the cheapest I’ve seen a Duraburb go for was north of $18k. It’s at $8,200 with 5 days left- it’ll reach unobtainium.

It’s true, we had 5 adults with snowboards and gear and plenty of room to spare. I think it seemed so big to me because I’m always in small cars. My Ranger is the largest vehicle I own!

Seriously... I’m extremely anti-car-payment, but this thing looks worth it.

Me, too. I want to shake the person at GM who thought “Duramax Suburban? No one would ever want such a thing!”

My dad has a really nice ‘01 extended cab 2500 HD diesel with low miles that I keep reminding him I have dibs on when he sells it. I don’t think it would work out with babies in car seats, though.

I believe the story on the no Duramax Suburban was supposedly the Allison trans didn’t fit under the floor pan, but I don’t actually know if that’s true.

No, car seats in an extended cab is a definite no-go. The front end on the ‘01&’02 Silverado HDs is my favorite GMT-800 front end.

But I’m pretty sure that the ‘03ish-’05 with the 8.1 engine also got an Allison trans, plus the folks converting them seem to make it work just fine. Idunno... I’d be tempted by an Excursion diesel, but the early SuperDuty interior was just hideously cheap.

Yeah, I dunno then

Yeah it was. I know a guy who has had once with the 7.3 since new. He’s retired it from over a he road duty. The engine will never die, but it’s still a 17 year old Ford.

Damn. At that price id buy a cheap ass 2 door tahoe and have a local race garage swap the duramax. Suburban isnt my ideal platform but I thought this one might be going for cheap.

That thing would be a really nice family tow rig though, and a hell of a lot of fun unloaded.
