Kinja'd!!!

The Tundra I just bought had a couple blue trees tucked inside. It’s quite the musk, and certainly an acquired taste; however, it’s not my style.

Back in HS, I used to get the Drakar Nior scented bag from Pep Boys to go under the seat in my 929. Loved that one! Unfortunately, I can’t find it anymore, and I think the Drakar scent disappeared along with my use of axe body spray. Perks of getting old.

But now I’m left with my new to me pickup and wanting a new smell. Febreeze and go? Activated charcoal in the carpet? What’s your scent?

Little trees leather scent for the Jaguars, new car for the Mercedes.

Usually when I buy a used car, I’ll deep clean/detail the interior, then throw some dryer sheets under the seats. Usually by the time the dryer sheets aren’t quite as potent, I’m used to whatever residual smell is left.

The carwash I go to gives these out. Normally I’m not a fan of air fresheners at all for cars but I love the smell of these and they are perfect for those plastic clip things on the sun visor meant for parking receipts (or whatever they’re for).

Super Wonder Wafers. They were first just available for detailers. Made in over 20 scents. I snag a couple at work about once a year and when they lose their power I hit them with some decent spray cologne if I clean the car before a local Cars and Coffee. They are made of a fairly uncoated blotter paper and you can get a second life out of them that way. Guys at work usually have the Clean Car or Leather smell.

I usually go with the little Febreze liquid vent clips. I can’t remember which flavor, but it has something to do with storm because there’s lightning on the package.

What I really need to get though are some of these:

Coronado cherry in a can. Perfect for cars with a lot of personality.

There was one in the ‘77 Cougar I bought in college, never replaced it, and it still smelled like cherry when I sold the car 6 years later.

NONE! I hate the artificial scent of “air fresheners”. I just get the smell of leather and clean from just cleaning my car regularly.

Not a fan of any. The ranger smelled a little musty when I first bought it, and on top of that the dealer detailed it with ArmorAll which I despise. Both the look and smell.

I took most of the interior apart to do power locks and keyless entry right after I got it, so I cleaned all of the panels inside and out, and re-detailed with Meguiar’s quick interior detailer. After that I left the windows down while we had a really breezy weekend, and any residual smell was gone.

I made a wood top for my console, so now it just smells like that. Which is great!

I think the ones I usually get are Air Wick vent clips in Linen or Ocean Breeze scents. They also have a dual-scented one that’s like New Car Smell and Linen. I like that one, too, because it’s not too strong and “new car smell” air fresheners never actually smell like real new car smell.

Well congrats on your new truck!

Filling a tube sock with kitty litter is fabulous for de-stinkifying shoes or other closed areas. Try putting a couple of those under the seats. That should keep funkiness away, and you can squirt whatever scent you want into it.

I hate Vanillaroma with a passion. It’s all my stepdad ever put in his cars.

I like febreze and I like Hawaii, so when I saw these at Costco I picked up a pack. Quite pleasant, and I’ve received several compliments on the fragrance. Good stuff.

I’ll shampoo the carpets with a big rug cleaner’s upholstery attachment and add a little essential oil to the shampoo (or vinegar, if I’m doing that). I’ve done tea tree, peppermint, and lavender all to good effect. After the first day or two the smell tends to mellow to a “clean” smell, which I like.

Vanilla all the air fresheners!

I had these neat ones in my M3 made by I think little trees that snapped onto the vent slats and you could barley even see them but I haven’t been able to find them since.

Daily: coffee grounds.
