I had a pair of complete trailing arms with hubs and brakes/discs still attached. weighed a TONNE! and was packaged in a failed box and a ton of clear tape, identical to this.
the amount of trouble I had dragging it into my garage without the packaging failing I was impressed the delivery company agreed to take it from the seller at all.

There’s an adapter of some kind. I think that the mechanical ones in the S10s only went through ‘88. But the tail housings are interchangeable. So some day, if I ever wear out or blow up this trans, I can pretty easily find a WC trans and change over the tail housing.

I totally hear you. The guy who shipped it to me ships them all over the country. I think the packaging held up well, all things considered. I’m curious to see if the dreyage bill states the weight...
And they did it all, including another box, for about $108 from Indiana to California.

I just looked and according to the charts I’ve found the 1995 V6 Mustang had a World Class with a mechanical speed sensor (Mustangs didn’t get electronic ones until the New Edge). I’ll take a look at the tag on my tranny next time I’m under the car. Probably important to find out because I did fill it with ATF and not-World-Class T5s take gear oil.

You have been a HUGE help. Definitely a new clutch kit, though I have to make sure the disk matches the input shaft on the T5, and I may need to shorten the input shaft by 3/16" or so.
Using an older trans with the mechanical speedo connection cost me an extra $300 or so, but part of that I’d have had to spend on a mechanical pretender mechanism. T5s with the electronic speedo are a dime a dozen, relatively speaking and the tail housings are interchangable and a tail housing alone can easily fetch $250 by itself, so I just went the extra distance on that one.

Ah the good ol’e T5. Forgot all the other cars it was used it, I’m mainly familiar with them from Mustangs, and thought they had mechanical speedo’s in the WC ones too. I do remember changing those little plastic gears (they had different colors IIRC, white, brown, pink?, blue) to correct for gearing.

for the most part a t5 is a t5 is a t5. Pre-1994 and post-1994 Ford T5s have slightly different input shaft lengths but I had no issue putting a ‘95 T5 in an ‘86 car.

I’ll be putting an ‘88 T5 from an S10 into a ‘71 GMC van that has a Saginaw 3-speed. I’ll have to buy a clutch and pressure plate with the clutch disk matching the transmission input shaft -- spline count being the chief factor -- and possibly shorten the input shaft by 3/16" or so. I’m told that can be done with a hack saw... Maybe I’ll use a Wheel of Death...
