And it’s my least favorite Ferrari ever.

I remember the 612 Scaglietti.

2+2, V12, 6MT. That’s all I need to know to like it. Might even by a bargain now by Ferrari standards.

It came in a silver/grey colour called “grigio Ingrid” which was an hommage to Ingrid Bergmann.

This is the car I say I have when people ask about the fake Ferrari key on my keychain, and for exactly the reason you stated, nobody knows it exists.

“Oh dude! Sweet, you got a Ferrari?!”

“Yes. I do.”

“Well what kind is it? Like a 458 with the engine in the back?!”

“No. It’s a 612...Scaglietti...”

“What’s that...?”

“It’s a front engined grand tourer...”

“Oh...well cool then dude...later...”

after that.... a 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser. Besides a huge metal building full of retired race cars of many series, those are the only street cars i’d get.

I believe the Scaglietti was one of the Ferraris that Enzo himself said epitomised Ferrari philosophy. Along with the Dino and Daytona.

He later in life said that later Ferraris weren’t what Ferrari stood for and they were just making cars for a certain niche rather than the Ferrari philosophy.

The 612 would probably get better gas mileage

What is this philosophy? I always thought that all Ferraris were for the same niche, new and old. What other cars fit this philosophy?

Sorry. I should of rephrased that. It conforms to Ferrari’s philosophies set out by Enzo which include the Dino and Daytona as drivers cars for engine power, driving dynamics, beauty, etc...

You’d never heard of the Scag? Huh. One of the best Top Gear races featured it.

But aren’t the newer ones drivers cars? I guess they’re more showoff toys and real estate investments than drivers cars now. :p

He was against large production and wanted all his cars to have equal amounts of power, etc... he felt everything mattered equally and no one element should be stronger or weaker than the rest.

Before he passed he did an interview with one of the main car magazines and everything he said was so enlightening.

Wow.....I’m impressed by this man, I must find out more about him. If only modern Fezza owners new. I wonder if the 328 fits his philosophy. It’s my favorite Fezza.

Enzo Ferrari preferred front-mounted V12s, and in his earlier days he also did not care for aerodynamics much. The 550 Maranello was sort of a return to Enzo’s vision after 25 years of BBs and Testarossas that had both the wrong engine placement and the wrong engine type (flat “V”-12).
