Dogs gonna be dogs.

They are awesome because they find everything awesome and have such a jest for life, sometimes life tries to tell them to slow down a little.

I hope his toe is good and he’s back to his awesome self soon.

When he first started limping I thought bone cancer which is common in greyhounds but luckily he’s healthish!

Try to save the toe. Katie, one of our brindle rescue Greys who since passed, had a back toe that would dislocate. The vet said it wasn’t weight bearing and removed it. Unfortunately, she never walked well after. Greyhounds are so delicate. Good luck, love seeing a sweet brindle boy.

Kinja'd!!!

His front right is already missing one so it wouldn’t be anything entirely new to him.

That’s good. I’ve known a couple dogs that got bone cancer. Awful thing

What happened? Do greyhounds have problems with their toes in general?
We removed the raptor toes on my dogs rear legs, but those were non functional and we did it to avoid injuries. Hope your dog will get well soon

We don’t know how it happened, but his outside “pinky” toe got tweaked and then the nail started growing into the outside of the paw in the 3rd toe. Greyhounds toes are longer and built for speed so just like any performance car they have their issues

Sounds unpleasant. Hadn’t done the analogy with performance cars. I guess mine is built like a tractor in that case :)

My dog was bred to run 45mph in a semi-straight line but now sleeps, then jumps around the house and in and out of cars so injuries happen.

No warmup surely doesn’t help.

And even then, it’s like taking an F1 car to go rock crawling
