I saw that last week. That, the scrolling stories, hard to read comments - I’m visiting Jalopnik/Gizmodo less and less.

With only 1GB per month on my data plan, I refuse to visit any Gawker (or whatever they’re called these days) sites on my phone. Too many ads with all sorts of video and other crap that I can’t bypass. I suspect that this will come back to bite them in the ass...

Because I’m currently on a ‘foreign’ dataplan even 1 GB is a lot for me. So when not on WiFi I use a browser that blocks out all images (and videos and ads). Images can be loaded manually. The main pages become far more bearable that way.

if you can deal with the above, you can deal with ad-locked content, if the ads are minimally intrusive, who cares. How else are websites supposed to make money with everyone using ad blockers? I run some blogs myself and while it’s not my main source of income, I do rely on some people being nice enough not to block ads.
